Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Stays hot against Detroit
Dorsett scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season in Sunday's win over Detroit.
We keep telling you his goal scoring will slow down and he keeps proving us wrong, so maybe it's time to get on board with the Dorsett hype. There's no denying what he's doing is impressive, but realistically there's no way he keeps it going. The fourth-liner is usually known for his PIM contributions and his previous career high in goals is 12. The fact he's outscoring Connor McDavid this season is just absurd, but be smart about it and know this won't last. He can be be of value in deeper formats, but take advantage and sell high if there's someone looking to acquire him for a slumping top-six forward.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Hangs up the skates
Dorsett (neck) has decided to officially end his NHL career due to health risks incurred from playing again.
Dorsett returned to Vancouver on Tuesday to undergo evaluation from the team's medical staff, which must have revealed something involving his neck that would involve further risks if he continued to play. The 30-year-old finishes his career having amassed 127 points (51 goals, 76 assists) and a whopping 1,314 penalty minutes over 515 contests.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Returns to Vancouver for evaluation
Dorsett (neck) returned to Vancouver on Tuesday to be evaluated by the Canucks' medical staff.
Dorsett's rehab following the cervical fusion procedure he underwent last December progressed as expected, which resulted in the veteran winger being cleared to play in September. However, he's recently dealt with neck and back stiffness, so the Canucks determined it was best for him to return to Vancouver and undergo further evaluation for precautionary reasons Tuesday. Dorsett can be considered out indefinitely until Vancouver releases another statement regarding his status.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: GM appeals instigator ruling
Canucks GM Jim Benning is appealing Dorsett's instigator penalty from Thursday night's loss to the Ducks, Ben Kuzma of The Vancouver Province reports. This is noteworthy because if the appeal is denied, the winger would receive a two-game suspension if he commits a third instigator infraction.
Dorsett's already been assessed two instigator penalties and the NHL's rule book states that a third would cost him two games. While the Canadian brute is generally known more for his physical play than his effort in the attacking zone, we'll point out that Dorsett has seven goals in 16 games thanks to a 30.4 shooting percentage -- that's obviously not sustainable. Still, he's also bagged two shorthanded goals this season and the Canucks losing him for any amount of time would really hurt the team and fantasy owners alike in some of the ancillary categories.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Nets seventh goal in victory
Dorsett tallied his seventh goal of the season in Tuesday's win over the Flames.
After a red-hot stretch at the start of the season, Dorsett had gone quiet over the last four games. The 30-year-old is proving to be quite the story with nine points through his first 15 games. He's playing great for a fourth-liner, but keep in mind he's just that. His 46 PIM and depth scoring make him a quality fantasy play in deeper formats.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Puts together impressive fantasy night
Dorsett scored his second goal of the season and was tagged for 17 PIM in Thursday's loss to the Bruins.
Dorsett only skated 11:58 in the defeat, but he was sure to make his ice time count. The 30-year-old has racked up 17 PIM in each of his previous two outings and is now up to a whopping 42 PIM through six contests. Dorsett is capable of netting the occasional goal on Vancouver's fourth line, but it's his consistent PIM totals that make him worth owning in some very deep leagues.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Pots first goal of season in losing cause
Dorsett scored his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to the Flames.
Dorsett skates on the fourth line and has never scored more than 12 goals in an NHL season, but he's a very reliable source of PIM and hits. While it's good to see the 30-year-old back in action after undergoing season-ending neck surgery last December, he won't offer much fantasy value outside of the deepest of leagues.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Cleared from injury
Dorsett (neck) was fully cleared to return to action on Tuesday.
After undergoing season-ending neck surgery last December, Dorsett appears to be fully recovered and ready to reclaim his regular roster spot with the Canucks. That said, the veteran winger has never exceeded 25 points in any of his 10 NHL seasons, so he can be safely ignored in the majority of fantasy formats, aside from those that incorporate hits.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Focusing on return in fall
Dorsett (neck) said Tuesday that he will be healthy and ready to return at the start of next season.
"I only know how to play one way and that's hard. I won't be changing how I play," Dorsett said, adding, "My first shift, I'm going to try and run someone over. You know how I play. I only have one gear." That tells you pretty much everything you need to know about the veteran enforcer -- he's not likely to put up a lot of points, but he'll play tough and make things easier for the scorers around him.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Done for season
Dorsett spoke to the media for the first time since sustaining his neck injury and said he is focused on being fully healthy for the start of next season, Irfaan Gaffar of Sportsnet reports.
So ends an injury-plagued season for Dorsett. The 30-year-old has mainly played the role of an enforcer for much of his career, which would explain the four points, 33 penalty minutes, and 35 hits he accumulated this season while seeing only 9:56 of ice time on average. He'll look to get healthy and resume his position in the Canucks' bottom-six next fall.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: To undergo cervical fusion surgery
Dorsett (neck) is scheduled to undergo cervical fusion surgery to repair disc degeneration in his neck.
Dorsett is expected to make a full recovery from the procedure, but a firm timetable remains unclear heading into the procedure. The team should provide further details on a potential timeline after the procedure, but it doesn't appear as though he will be back on the ice anytime soon. The veteran winger's absence likely won't have a huge overall impact in the fantasy realm, as he's notched just four points through 14 games with the Canucks this season.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Placed on injured reserve
Dorsett (shoulder) is listed on injured reserve, per the NHL's official media site.
As expected, Dorsett has landed on IR, which means that he will be sidelined until at least Nov. 25, when the Canucks play the Stars on the road. That said, a timeline has not been established for the 29-year-old winger's return, so he could be out longer, depending on the progress he makes in the coming week.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Expected to land on IR
Coach Willi Desjardins indicated Monday that Dorsett (shoulder) will likely be placed on injured reserve, Jon Abbott of TSN 1040 reports.
Dorsett missed Saturday's contest because of the issue and it appears the issue will hold him out longer than just one game. An official move has yet to be made, but that should be made in the coming days. However, Abbott reports that it's unlikely the team will add a body from its AHL affiliate.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Eyeing week-long absence
Dorsett (shoulder) is seven-to-ten days away from returning to Vancouver's lineup.
This timeframe released by the Canucks Tuesday is essentially what they expected when Dorsett was placed on injured reserve Monday. Either way, Dorsett has averaged only 8:45 of ice time in five games this season, so don't expect an explosive return in seven-to-ten days.

Canucks' Derek Dorsett: Placed on injured reserve Monday
Dorsett (shoulder) was moved to injured reserve Monday, Ben Kuzma of the Vancouver Province reports.
Dorsett hurt his shoulder Saturday night against the Kings and didn't suit up Sunday in Anaheim. He'll be joined by fellow veteran Alex Burrows (neck) on IR, and the earliest each player will be able to return will come against the Canadiens on Nov. 2. Troy Stecher and Jayson Megna have been recalled from AHL Utica in their absence.
