Brennan secured a one-year pact with Swiss club HC Thurgau on Monday.
Brennan hasn't played in an NHL game since the 2015-16 campaign when he was with the Maple Leafs. After four years in the minors, the 31-year-old defenseman will give European hockey a try. This likely marks the end of Brennan's NHL career. After being selected by the Sabres in the second round of the 2007 NHL Draft, he went on to play 53 games for Buffalo, Florida and Toronto, recording five goals, eight assists and 60 hits.

Flyers' T.J. Brennan: Surprise waiver drop for Philadelphia
Brennan was waived by the Flyers on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Brennan signed a two-year contract extension with the Flyers last March, plus he turned heads with a triumvirate of assists in Tuesday's preseason win over the Islanders, so this move does come as a bit of a surprise. However, if he clears waivers, Brennan could stay within the Flyers system as a member of AHL Lehigh Valley.

Flyers' T.J. Brennan: Posts three assists
Brennan registered three assists in a 5-1 preseason victory over the Islanders on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old has recorded 105 points in 139 AHL games over the last two seasons, so racking up assists isn't really anything new for him. He is looking good this preseason, but it's unlikely he will make the NHL roster out of camp. Brennan last played in an NHL game with the Maple Leafs in 2015-16.

Brennan inked a multi-year extension with the Flyers on Tuesday.
Brennan has not made an appearance at the NHL level since the 2015-16 campaign when he notched a goal over seven contests with the Maple Leafs. The 28-year-old blueliner certainly has the ability to impact a game offensively, but his minus-22 career rating at the NHL level suggests he may have to improve on the defensive end of the ice to stick. Brennan owns a plus-9 rating with AHL Lehigh Valley this season and the multi-year extension suggests the Flyers are willing to invest in his future.

Flyers' T.J. Brennan: Demoted to AHL
The Flyers loaned Brennan to AHL Lehigh Valley on Friday.
Brennan was recalled to round out the Flyers' depth at defense while Radko Gudas (suspension) and Brandon Manning (hand) were sidelined, but Gudas is eligible to return to the lineup Tuesday against Toronto, so Philadelphia is no longer in need of Brennan's services. The 28-year-old blueliner failed to crack the lineup during his brief stay with the big club.

Brennan was recalled from AHL Lehigh Valley on Wednesday.
Waived ahead of this season, the physical defenseman rung up 15 points and 34 PIM in 17 games for the Phantoms ahead of his call-up. He's essentially replacing Brandon Manning (undisclosed), who is now on injured reserve.

Brennan was waived by the Flyers on Friday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sportsreports.
Brennan racked up an impressive 60 points in 76 outings last year and should be on coach Dave Hakstol's short list of potential call-ups this season. Assuming the 28-year-old clears waivers -- which is by no means guaranteed given his productivity -- the 2007 second-round pick will return to AHL Lehigh Valley for the start of the 2017-18 campaign.

Flyers' T.J. Brennan: Passes through waivers, assigned to AHL
Brennan cleared waivers along with Andy Miele, Chris Conner, Greg Carey and Petr Straka on Saturday. Those five players are now headed for AHL Lehigh Valley, a minor-league affiliate of the Flyers.
Brennan has just 13 points in 53 games at the NHL level, suggesting that he hasn't realized his full potential despite raising eyebrows as Buffalo's second-round draft selection in 2007. However, he'll presumably be a call-up option when injuries threaten the parent club this season.

Andy Miele, Chris Conner, Greg Carey and Petr Straka will all join Brennan on assignment to AHL Lehigh Valley unless they are claimed off the waiver wire by another team. The 27-year-old Brennan spent last season with the Maple Leafs where he appeared in seven NHL contests and averaged 15:06 of ice time per night. The blueliner performed significantly better in the minors and was one tally shy of reaching the point-per-game mark. He could offer the most fantasy upside among the waived if called up.

Brennan agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way contract with the Flyers on Tuesday, Sam Carchidi of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Brennan tallied just one goal during his brief seven-game stint with the Maple Leafs last season. Primarily an AHL player thus far in his career, the 27-year-old blueliner can be expected to begin the season in the minors, but could be called up if the Flyers get bit by the injury bug.

Brennan scored his first goal since the 2012-13 season in Monday's 4-3 loss to the Panthers.
It was T.J.'s fourth game of the season. He's an offensive wizard, but a liability in his own zone (at least until now). Brennan is getting a late-season shot, but would be better served in another organization. He just doesn't fit the Leafs' mould.

Brennan has been an offensive force with the Marlies this season, averaging a point per game through 67 contests. A second-round pick from the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, Brennan seems to be unfazed by AHL competition yet the 26-year-old has only appeared in 47 NHL games, producing 12 points in that span.

Brennan saw a little over 11 minutes of ice time and recorded a lone hit against the Islanders during his one-day recall. The 26-year-old returning to the Marlies likely means that fellow blueliner Viktor Loov (undisclosed) will be good to go against the Senators on Saturday.

Brennan has been called up to the majors after another injury on the Maple Leafs' blue line, Jonas Siegel of The Canadian Press reports.
Brennan has seen action in a mere six NHL contests since joining the Toronto organization prior to the 2014-15 campaign. In those games, the defenseman's garnered one assist and 9 PIM. The 26-year-old has shone in the AHL with 55 points in 59 outings this year. Brennan's recall comes in the aftermath of an undisclosed injury suffered by Viktor Loov.
