Torrey Mitchell: Will try luck in Europe
Mitchell signed a one-year deal with Lausanne of the Swiss league.
Mitchell logged 60 games last season split between Montreal and Los Angeles, in which he tallied a mere 11 points. Without a deal in hand, the 33-year-old will look to continue playing professionally abroad. If it is the end of the center's time in the NHL, he will wrap up his career with 67 goals, 85 helpers and 351 PIM in 666 contests.

Mitchell's tally ended a 16-game pointless streak that also saw him serve as a healthy scratch on three occasions. The center saw just 8:27 of ice time versus Colorado, but was still able to find the back of the net on his lone shot of the game. Kings' Torrey Mitchell: Adds helper in 4-1 win
Mitchell collected an assist, two PIM and two hits through just 9:04 of ice time during Monday's 4-1 win over Philadelphia.
The speedy veteran has now recorded two goals and an assist through his past four contests. There's a chance Mitchell is just settling into his new surroundings, but it's probably best to temper fantasy expectations given his depth role and limited minutes.

Kings' Torrey Mitchell: Will join teammates in Chicago
Contrary to an earlier report that indicated Mitchell would join the Kings in St. Louis ahead of Friday's matchup with the Blues, he'll actually meet his teammates in Chicago for Sunday's game against the Blackhawks, Jon Rosen of Fox Sports West reports.
Mitchell's immigration paperwork has been completed, so he should be ready to enter the lineup and make his Kings debut Sunday in Chicago. The veteran pivot, who went scoreless in 11 games with the Canadiens before being dealt to the Kings on Nov. 23, will likely occupy a bottom-six role Sunday.

Mitchell is getting closer to a roster spot after the Canadiens waived or cut several forwards Saturday.
A gallery of forwards got fourth-line minutes during the preseason, but Michael McCarron, Daniel Carr and Peter Holland were removed from Montreal's preseason roster Saturday. That seemingly leaves Mitchell in a position to open the regular season on the roster, centering the fourth line. However, Jacob de la Rose, who scored in Saturday's preseason game, is still around and could dislodge Mitchell, who didn't play in either Friday's or Saturday's preseason game. Mitchell's good on faceoffs and has been a penalty-kill staple for the Habs, but coach Claude Julien, who made Mitchell a healthy scratch three times during last season's six-game playoff series against the Rangers, appears to be on the lookout for a replacement.
