Chris Kelly: Turns to coaching
Kelly was hired as a development coach for the Senators on Wednesday.
The 37-year-old spent eight years with the Senators, six with the Bruins, and he finished his NHL career with the Ducks in 2017-18. Kelly -- who won the Stanley Cup with the B's in 2011 -- produced 123 goals and 168 assists over 845 contests at the top level, plus he was in contention for the Selke Trophy four times. His next career step is to develop prospects in Ottawa.

Ducks' Chris Kelly: Only appears in 12 games
Kelly snagged two assists in 2017-18, but just played in 12 games averaging 7:39 of ice time.
The highlight of Kelly's season actually didn't come in the NHL, as he served as Team Canada's captain for the 2018 Olympics, pitching in two goals and an assist in six games while leading his team to bronze. Back in America, he did play in 12 straight games in March, but was benched the final six contests and didn't appear in the playoffs. The 37-year-old will become a free agent for 2018-19, but could provide strong veteran leadership for a younger team, especially with his Olympic experience and Stanley Cup Final trip with Boston.

Ducks' Chris Kelly: Logging limited minutes
Kelly logged just 6:54 of ice time over 13 shifts during Friday's 3-2 overtime loss to Winnipeg.
The veteran has now dressed for 11 games with Anaheim, and he's collected two assists and five shots while averaging just 7:51 of ice time per contest. It's unlikely Kelly carves out a more meaningful role leading into the playoffs, either.

Ducks' Chris Kelly: Signs deal with Anaheim
Kelly signed a one-year, $1.25 million deal with the Ducks for the remainder of the 2018 season, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Kelly suited up for Team Canada in the 2018 Winter Olympics and played well enough to secure an NHL contract. He scored a pair of goals and had three points in six Olympic contests. The 37-year-old forward played all 82 games for Ottawa last season, logging 12 points. It remains to be seen what type of role he'll have, but he shouldn't have much of a fantasy impact.

Senators' Chris Kelly: Signs PTO with Senators system
Kelly signed a professional tryout agreement with AHL Belleville on Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Kelly has not abandoned his hopes of joining up with an NHL team this season, but he will have to do so through the AHL affiliate of his former team in this situation. The veteran winger could receive a call-up at some point, but he's never broken 40 points in a season during his career and isn't likely to be any more effective on this sad Senators team, so he can be passed over for fantasy purposes regardless.

Chris Kelly: Not wanting to end NHL career
Kelly has been skating with Carleton University, but he's not giving up on his goal to latch on with an NHL team, Wayne Scanlan of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
Kelly secured a PTO with Edmonton ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, but he left without securing a deal that would give him the right to play at least one season in "The Big E." Originally drafted by the Senators in 1999, Kelly's recorded 289 points (123 goals, 166 assists) over 833 career contests between Ottawa and Boston.

Oilers' Chris Kelly: Healthy scratch Sunday
Kelly was scratched for Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to Washington.
Despite appearing in all 82 games for Ottawa last season, Kelly has been a healthy scratch for every game in 2017-18. This is especially surprising given Edmonton's recent struggles offensively and Kelly's veteran leadership, but it appears that he'll continue to sit in the press box unless injuries arise.

Oilers' Chris Kelly: Secures PTO with Edmonton
Kelly will attend the Oilers' training camp on a professional tryout agreement, Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Kelly only totaled 12 points (five goals, seven assists) in 82 games with Ottawa last season, but he also averaged over two minutes of ice time as a penalty killer, so he could bolster the Oilers' special teams in 2017-18. However, the 36-year-old forward doesn't produce enough offense to be a viable option in season-long fantasy formats.

Senators' Chris Kelly: May receive contract offer from Ottawa
Kelly won't receive a contract offer from the Senators initially, but he may be re-signed by the club at some point ahead of the 2017-18 campaign, Postmedia's Bruce Garrioch reports.
The Senators will likely wait to see how their roster looks after the expansion and entry drafts before making a decision on Kelly. In the meantime, the 36-year-old winger is free to sign with another NHL club, but it remains to be seen whether any other teams will exhibit any interest in the aging forward. He only tallied 12 points (five goals, seven assists) while registering an ugly minus-17 rating in 82 games with Ottawa last season.

Senators' Chris Kelly: Tagging in Friday
Kelly will make an appearance in Game 5 against the Bruins on Friday.
The veteran will sub in for the injured Tom Pyatt (upper body). Kelly will provide leadership intangibles that are so crucial around playoff time, but he's not worth a look in playoff pools since his playing time currently depends on the health of others.

Senators' Chris Kelly: Slumping veteran headed for press box in opener
Kelly appears likely to be a healthy scratch for Game 1 against the Bruins on Wednesday, Ian Mendes of TSN reports.
Kelly struggled down the stretch, going scoreless over his final 15 appearances dating back to March 11. His playing time had dwindled under the 10-minute mark for a five-game stretch from March 30 to April 6 before he played a larger role in the final two games with several veterans resting. Kelly appeared in all 82 games this season, but it appears he'll have to wait to tag in for the postseason.
