Douglas Murray: Set to retire
Murray has announced his retirement, Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports.
Murray spent the first seven years of his NHL career playing with the San Jose Sharks before a midseason move to Pittsburgh in 2012-13 and a one-year stint with the Canadiens. In all, the 36-year-old saw action in 518 contests in which he was able to record seven goals and 57 assists. Selected in the eighth round of the 1999 NHL Draft, the blueliner will probably be best remembered for delivering bone-crushing hits to opponents.

Murray Released From PTO
Murray was released from his PTO with the Flames on Friday, Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet 960 reports.The Flames are pretty deep at defense, so it was hard to imagine a scenario where Murray secured a spot on the team's Opening Night roster. The 35-year-old defender hasn't played in an NHL contest since the 2013-14 season, and probably won't be suiting up for an NHL team in 2015-16.... See More ... See Less
