Sabres' Kevin Porter: Assigned to AHL affiliate
Buffalo assigned Porter (lower body) to AHL Rochester on Sunday, TSN reports.
Porter missed Friday's exhibition match against the Maple Leafs due to a lower-body injury, but his assignment to the Sabres' minor-league affiliate indicates he's already overcome that issue. The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in an NHL contest since 2016-17 and will spend the entirety of the upcoming season with Rochester.

Sabres' Kevin Porter: Out with lower-body injury
Porter (lower body) has been ruled out of Friday's matchup with Toronto, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
The Sabres have yet to release any details regarding a potential timetable for Porter's return, but he'll miss Friday's contest at a minimum. The Michigan native hasn't seen regular-season NHL ice time since appearing in two games for Pittsburgh in the 2016-17 season. Porter has appeared in 124 games for AHL Rochester over the last two campaigns, logging 81 points (27 goals, 54 assists).

Sabres' Kevin Porter: Descends to minors
Porter was reassigned to AHL Rochester on Sunday.
The 32-year-old pivot was called up less than a week ago, but he didn't suit up for a game. Porter has played well in minors this season, compiling 16 goals and 40 points in 64 games, and he'll look to lead AHL Rochester through the Calder Cup Playoffs.

Sabres' Kevin Porter: Finally gets call-up to big stage
Porter was recalled from AHL Rochester on Tuesday.
The Swords have called up Porter for the first time since he signed a two-year, two-way contract with the club last July. He turned 32 years old in March and is getting his second look with the Sabres after playing for them between 2012-14. There's no fantasy value here, but he's recorded 29 goals and 29 assists over 249 career contests between the Coyotes, Penguins and Sabres.

Sabres' Kevin Porter: Shuffling back to Buffalo
Porter signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Sabres on Saturday, Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News reports.
At 31, Porter is simply a journeyman available to provide depth, but he has a history from his time in Pittsburgh with new Sabres GM Jason Botterill and he'll head back to the Buffalo organization, where he spent two seasons earlier in the decade. Porter will slot in as either a fourth or fifth center with the big club, or in a leadership role for Buffalo's AHL squad in Rochester.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Headed back to minors
Porter was demoted to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Monday.
After signing a new deal with the Penguins in the offseason, Porter managed to see the ice in only the final two games of the year. The center hasn't scored a goal in an NHL contest since he was with Buffalo during the 2012-13 campaign. A veteran presence with the Baby Pens, Porter is third in scoring on the team with 11 goals and 35 helpers. While coach Mike Sullivan seems comfortable relying on young players, bringing up an experienced player like Porter might be the preferred option, if needed, given the importance of the playoffs.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Promoted from minors
Porter was recalled from AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Saturday.
Porter, who won the Hobey Baker Award with the University of Michigan in 2008, is lauded for his work on the penalty kill. He gives the Penguins another starting option down the middle with Evgeni Malkin (shoulder) ruled out for Saturday's contest against the Maple Leafs and just one more game after that remaining in the regular season.

The Penguins sent Porter to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Tuesday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Placed on waivers
Porter was waived by the Penguins on Friday for the purpose of reassignment, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Porter was expected to play a bigger role for the Pens last season before being sidelined by injuries. The 30-year-old saw his spot on the depth chart filled by the likes of veteran Matt Cullen, and youngsters Tom Kuhnhackl and Bryan Rust. If Porter clears waivers, he will be reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton where he can provide some much needed veteran leadership.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Will suit up against Red Wings
Porter (ankle) will be in the lineup for Tuesday's preseason matchup with Detroit, Seth Rorabaugh of DK on Pittsburgh Sports reports.
After missing the start of the year with an elbow injury, Porter was bit by the injury bug again during the 2015-16 campaign and missed the final 43 games of the year including the postseason. Healthy again, the veteran will look to prove why he was brought in last season in the first place. Word of warning to fantasy owners, the center has never played an 82-game NHL season, as he topped out at 74 outings with Colorado during 2010-11.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Progressing from lower-leg surgery
Porter (ankle) says his "ankle feels pretty good" following surgery in March to repair a broken fibula, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
The 30-year-old center man told reporters, "I've been skating for a while now and kind of tweaking some things with my skates and some pads." Still appearing to be in the midst of rehab, it remains unclear if the former fourth round pick will be ready for training camp but signs are indicating his return to competitive action is not far off. Porter has been hampered by injuries and limited playing time for most of his career and will likely be relegated to deep forward depth in 2016-17 given the Penguins' plethora of offensive talent.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Re-signs with Pittsburgh
Porter (ankle) agreed to terms on a new one-year, two-way contract with the Penguins on Monday.
Porter missed the team's playoff run after breaking his ankle in early March. The 30-year-old will get his name engraved on the Stanley Cup after competing in exactly 41 contests, the required minimum, during the regular season. In those outings, the winger tallied a mere three helpers while averaging 11:19 in ice time per game. Porter's primary contribution to the team comes on the penalty kill as he logged just under two minutes of shorthanded game action when he was healthy. It remains unclear where the veteran will slot in with the emergence of Bryan Rust and Tom Kuhnhackl, which should give fantasy owners pause heading into the 2016-17 campaign.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Goes on injured reserve
Porter (ankle) was placed on injured reserve.
Porter is out at least 12 weeks after having surgery on his ankle, but was not ruled out for the postseason. The winger has recorded a mere three points on the scoresheet this season, but has been crucial to the Penguins' lineup because of his veteran leadership, something that doesn't translate into fantasy value.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Sidelined for 12 weeks after surgery
Porter will be out for at least 12 weeks following surgery on his ankle Friday.
Unfortunately Porter's season long goalless drought is likely going to extend to next season unless the Penguins can make a deep run into the playoffs. The 29-year-old will be missed by Pittsburgh for his veteran leadership and gritty play, but with just three helpers on the year, his absence will have almost zero impact on fantasy lineups.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Injured in second period Thursday
Porter skated immediately to the dressing room after suffering an apparent leg injury in the first period of Thursday's game against the Rangers, Seth Rorabaugh of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Porter took a nasty spill into the boards after being hit by Viktor Stalberg and was unable to put any weight on his right leg as he came off. Porter did not return to the bench at the start of the second period. He's split time between the NHL and AHL this season, picking up three points in 40 NHL games this season.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Reassigned to minors Friday
Porter has been reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, per Seth Rorabaughof the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Porter made eight appearances with the parent club before getting sent down. During that span, he averaged 11:34 TOI, a reasonable amount for a bottom-six forward. He'll need to earn more ice time before warranting a look in fantasy leagues upon his next call-up.

Penguins' Kevin Porter: Ready to go if called upon
Porter (undisclosed) skated Thursday and appears set to play against the Stars, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
The return of Pascal Dupuis to the lineup could push him to the bench. Porter is one of the Pens' better penalty killers but Dupuis is also strong killing penalties, lessening the need for the one-dimensional skater.
