Luke Gazdic: Hangs up skates
Gazdic announced via his personal twitter account Thursday that he's chosen to retire from professional hockey.
The 31-year-old most recently played for AHL San Diego, going pointless in seven games during the 2019-20 season. Gazdic played four seasons in the NHL with Edmonton and New Jersey, producing five goals and eight points across 147 career games.

Flames' Luke Gazdic: Heads to waiver wire
Gazdic was waived by Calgary on Monday, Rick Ralph of TSN 1290 Winnipeg reports.
Despite limited ability (eight career points), Gazdic has managed to play 147 games over a four-year NHL career through his toughness and willingness to fight. He's unlikely to be claimed by another team while on waivers, so he'll likely head to the minors to begin the season.

Flames' Luke Gazdic: Signs one-year deal with Calgary
Gazdic has signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flames.
Gazdic saw action in just 11 games for the Devils last season, as he spent most of his time in the AHL with their affiliate in Albany. He should provide some extra depth for the Flames after inking a one-year deal Sunday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he saw a bunch of time in the AHL again during the upcoming campaign.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Returns to Albany
Gazdic was routed to AHL Albany on Friday.
He's barely averaged seven minutes of ice time this season, so Gazdic shouldn't even be a blip on the fantasy radar.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Brought up to big club
The Devils recalled Gazdic from AHL Albany on Tuesday.
The Devils are pretty banged up at forward, so Gazdic will slot into the lineup immediately, skating with Blake Coleman and Ben Thomson on New Jersey's fourth line Tuesday against Philadelphia. The 27-year-old winger has failed to tally a single point in 10 games with the big club this season, so he won't be a useful option in daily contests against the Flyers.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Waived by Devils
The Devils waived Gazdic on Thursday, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
Gazdic has been a healthy scratch more often than not this season, and has failed to tally a single point in the 10 games he's drawn into, so this move doesn't come as much of a surprise. The 27-year-old winger will likely be assigned to AHL Albany if he isn't claimed off waivers by another club.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Dresses in consecutive games
Gazdic played in consecutive games Saturday against the Flyers and Tuesday against the Kings after not dressing for a contest since Jan. 7.
Gazdic didn't skate more than 6:10 in either contest, as his role is minuscule even when he does suit up. Even his friends and family likely don't own this man in their leagues, considering he has no points and 12 penalty minutes in 10 appearances.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Called up to big club Wednesday
Gazdic was recalled from AHL Albany on Wednesday and will join the team for their road matchup with the Capitals on Thursday.
With the Devils losing forwards Vernon Fiddler (lower body) and Taylor Hall (lower body) to injury in recent days, Gazdic was called up to shore up the offensive front. The 27-year-old has tallied just two points over 13 games for the minor league club this season and will likely be sent back to the minors once the Devils recover from the injury bug.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Sent back to AHL Albany
Gazdic was demoted to AHL Albany on Saturday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Albany plays a game Monday before the Devils return to action Tuesday, so it's quite possible the team is getting him some extra action and will recall him again. Even if he does rejoin the NHL club, he's seen very little ice time (7:18 per game) and hasn't impacted the box score enough to be worthy of fantasy ownership.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Called up from minors
Gazdic was recalled from AHL Albany on Wednesday.
Gazdic's promotion is somewhat surprising, as the Devils added another forward rather than shoring up a blue line that currently lacks depth. Since New Jersey is not back in action until Thursday, the move could be tied to getting Yohann Auvitu some game time in the minors, as Albany plays Wednesday.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Clears waivers Monday
Gazdic (foot) has been reassigned to AHL Albany after clearing waivers Monday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Per NHL rules, Gazdic was taken off injured reserve and cleared from his injury prior to being waived. After going unclaimed, the winger has returned to the AHL where he logged 11 games last season with the Bakersfield Condors in which he garnered one goal and two assists. The 27-year-old's limited offensive contributions make him a low-end fantasy option when in the majors.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Placed on waivers Sunday
Gazdic was put on waivers Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
If he clears, he will head down to AHL Albany. Given he's been injured since the preseason, this might be a sign that he's getting ready for a minors tune-up before jumping into the NHL.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Not traveling with team
Gazdic (foot) will not join the team for their road game against the Sabres on Friday, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Gazdic remains on IR and will continue rehabbing in New Jersey. The winger's next chance to slot back into the lineup will be Saturday against Buffalo when the team is back in New Jersey. Given his limited production over his career, fantasy owners may want to pursue other options when the 27-year-old is cleared to return. Look for an update from the team once Gazdic is activated off injured reserve.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Cleared for contact
Gazdic (foot) is practicing in full, but is not quite "game ready" according to coach John Hynes, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
Gazdic has yet to play this season and saw action in just 29 NHL contests last season. Given his lack of experience, fantasy owners may want to hold off picking him up once he is cleared to return and give him some time to show what he can do on the ice.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Out with broken foot
Gazdic will miss the next four weeks with a broken foot.
Gazdic spent the last three seasons with the Oilers before signing a one-year deal with the Devils in the offseason. In 29 contests last season, the winger averaged just 6:12 of ice time; he'll most likely be reassigned to AHL Albany once he's cleared for game action.

Devils' Luke Gazdic: Pens one-year contract with New Jersey
Gazdic signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Devils on Tuesday.
Gazdic played in only 29 games this past season and recorded a lone goal in those outings. Considering his limited usage in Edmonton, fantasy owners should not expect the 26-year-old to suddenly become a 15-minute per night guy who is averaging a goal a game, but an uptick in ice time from his 6:12 average could certainly be in the cards.

Oilers' Luke Gazdic: Scores once in 29 goals.
Gazdic had one goal and 24 PIM in 29 games for Edmonton this season.
Gazdic is only on the team to keep opposing players honest in regards to their physicality with the Oilers' top forwards. With the NHL becoming a kinder and more gentle league, players like Gazdic won't be as useful as they once were.

Gazdic was recalled from AHL Bakersfield by the Oilers on Monday, Jason Gregor of the Edmonton Journal reports.
Gazdic has skated in 28 contests with Edmonton this season, notching a lone goal Dec. 6 against Buffalo. The 26-year-old Toronto native was likely called up to provide the Oilers' forward lines with some depth while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins recovers from hand surgery.
