Tyson Strachan: Released from tryout
Strachan's professional tryout agreement was terminated by Arizona on Monday.
The big, stay-at-home defenseman spent the vast majority of the past two seasons in the minors, and with this development, it appears that he'll be playing in the AHL in 2017-18. In a league that increasingly values speed and skill, it's difficult to imagine Strachan getting another chance in the NHL.

Strachan (ankle) is expected to skate Friday, the Olean Times Herald reports.
The ankle injury sidelined Strachan for a week and he will likely dress for Buffalo's final preseason game in Ottawa, his last chance to impress the coaches before Opening Night. However, the 31-year-old journeyman may have a chance to keep a roster spot if Rasmus Ristolainen remains unsigned or if Dmitry Kulikov (back) and Zach Bogosian (groin) aren't ready to go. Still, his fantasy value is virtually nil.

Strachan signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Wild on Thursday, Chad Graff of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.Strachan was able to stick in the NHL with the Sabres all of last season, but he'll face a much more difficult ascent up the depth chart on a deep Minnesota squad.
