Slava Voynov: Secures one-year deal
Voynov (suspension) agreed to term on a one-year contract with Avangard Omsk (KHL) on Saturday.
Voynov was facing a suspension for the first 41 games of the 2019-20 NHL season, assuming he could find a team to sign him, so instead, the defender will return to the KHL. Due to his off-ice issues, the 29-year-old didn't play during 2018-19, but he did manage nine goals and 14 helpers in 39 games with SKA St. Petersburg two years ago. At this point, it's hard to imagine Voynov will make a return to the NHL in the future, but he will have to serve his half-season suspension if he ever does.

Slava Voynov: Suspension reduced
Neutral arbitrator Shyam Das technically upheld Voynov's suspension for the 2019-20 season Thursday, but he credited him 41 games as time served, which means Voynov will only be suspended for the first half the upcoming campaign, Stephen Whyno of the Associated Press reports.
Although Voynov will be eligible to return to action midway through the 2019-20 season, it's hard to imagine an NHL club taking a chance on him at this point given his checkered past. If he goes unsigned, the former King will likely return to his native Russia to continue his professional playing career.

Slava Voynov: Appealing ban
The NHLPA has filed an appeal on behalf of Voynov, who has been suspended for the entire 2019-20 campaign due to "unacceptable off-ice conduct," Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Formerly with the Kings, Voynov pled no contest to a domestic violence charge in October of 2014 and was ultimately deported from the United States. The defenseman sought reinstatement into the NHL for the campaign that just ended, but that didn't come to fruition, and now Voynov can only hope that his appeal with an independent arbiter yields more favorable results.

Slava Voynov: Suspended for 2019-20
Voynov will be suspended for the entire 2019-20 campaign due to unacceptable off-ice conduct.
Voynov's absence from the NHL dates back to 2014 when he pled no contest to a domestic violence charge. He played three seasons in the KHL with St. Petersburg, but the 29-year-old blueliner didn't have a home at all last season. Voynov's playing status will be restored after next season -- barring a reversal via appeal -- but it remains to be seen if the Kings, who still own the rights to Voynov will be interested in him.

Slava Voynov: Won't be reinstated before deadline
Voynov's application for reinstatement is not expected to be ruled on prior to the NHL trade deadline, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
Voynov was deported from the United States following a no contest plea to a domestic violence charge in October of 2014 and has spent the past three seasons playing in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg. The decision by Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly effectively rules out any chance for Voynov to play this season. The Russian winger hasn't been playing anywhere in 2018-19, which could limit his options even if he is cleared by the league to play. At this point, the 29-year-old may have to admit his hope of returning to the NHL is over.

Slava Voynov: Applies for reinstatement
Voynov has applied to be reinstated and eligible to sign with an NHL team, Dennis Bernstein of The Professional Hockey Writers' Association reports.
Voynov was deported from the United States following a no contest plea to a domestic violence charge in October of 2014 and has spent the past three seasons playing in the KHL with SKA St. Petersburg. If the blueliner is cleared to return to the NHL, it's unclear whether he would need to rejoin the Kings or if he could sign with any NHL team.

Voynov has not obtained clearance to rejoin the NHL after having his criminal record expunged, John Shannon of Sportsnet reports.
The defenseman pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge stemming from an October 2014 incident and was hoping to make his way back into the NHL after playing out parts of three seasons in his native Russia, representing SKA St. Petersburg. Voynov has collected 18 goals and 63 assists over 190 career games with the Kings, but fantasy owners shouldn't count on him skating in North America in 2018-19, let alone making a fantasy impact doing so.

Slava Voynov: Criminal record expunged
Voynov had his misdemeanor domestic abuse conviction dismissed Monday, which could improve his chances of being reinstated into the NHL, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The domestic abuse conviction reportedly stems from an incident of "corporal injury to a spouse" in 2015. Voynov -- who played for the Kings for parts of four seasons between 2011-14 -- ended up in jail for nearly two months, and he voluntarily moved back to his native Russia to avoid deportation. It sounds like the next step for Voynov is to have a hearing with Gary Bettman, the NHL's Deptuy Commissioner, to try and get reinstated. Now 28 years old, Voynov has compiled 18 goals and 67 assists over 190 career contests in the NHL.

Slava Voynov: Given clearance to apply for work visa
Voynov, who's hoping for NHL reinstatement after tending to legal matters, can apply for a work visa July 2, Igor Eronko of Sport-Expressreports.
If he does get reinstated, Voynov should make his way back to the Kings. The defenseman recorded 18 goals and 63 assists over 190 games with Los Angeles between 2011-15, though he pleaded no contest to a domestic violence charge stemming from an October 2014 arrest and voluntarily left the country. Now, he's looking for a clean slate in the NHL following three seasons with St. Petersburg SKA of the KHL. The defenseman is known as a solid playmaker, but there are still pieces that need to fall into place before he can be taken seriously in the fantasy realm.

Slava Voynov: Little movement on possible reinstatement
Voynov, formerly with the Kings, could eventually return to the NHL, but he must be reinstated by the league following his voluntary deportation to Russia and having served a 90-day jail sentence in September of 2015 for spousal abuse, ESPN reports.
Deputy NHL commissioner Bill Daly reportedly told ESPN that it's too early for the league to decide whether Voynov is allowed back in the league, and there's no guarantee that a team would be interested in obtaining a player with a checkered past. Now 28 years old, Voynov accumulated 81 points (18 goals, 63 assists) in 190 career games with Los Angeles between 2011-15.
