Magnus Paajarvi: Signs overseas
Paajarvi has inked a two-year contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of the KHL, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
Paajarvi appeared in 80 games with the Senators last year, notching 11 goals and 19 points, but he wasn't able to garner any interest from another NHL club this offseason. The 28-year-old forward will likely spend the rest of his playing career overseas.

Magnus Paajarvi: Won't be back with Ottawa
The Senators aren't going to re-sign Paajarvi, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent July 1, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
Paajarvi was a passable bottom-six contributor for the Senators this season, notching 11 goals and 19 points in 80 games, but Ottawa shouldn't have any trouble replacing his production with a younger, cheaper option. The 28-year-old Swede will likely land with another club on a short-term deal, but his lack of offensive upside will keep him off the radar in all but the deepest of fantasy formats.

Paajarvi has four points (two goals, two assists) in his last four games. And while he has just 11 goals and 18 points on the season, Paajarvi has been a Leaf killer -- he has six points, including five goals, in his last three games against the Buds (since Feb. 6). We'll bet he wishes he could play Toronto every night.

He netted the winner and ended an 18-game goal drought. The 2009 first-rounder has never lived up to his draft billing. Now 27, Paajarvi will record just his second full season. But with just 14 points in 71 games, he's just not fantasy worthy. Nice game, though.

Paajarvi has posted two goals and two assists over his last 11 games but has managed just ten points and a ghastly minus-19 rating in 61 games this season. The first-round pick of the Oilers in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft is unlikely to produce much offense toiling on Ottawa's fourth line and therefore has precious little fantasy value in any format.

Senators' Magnus Paajarvi: Sparks offense in loss
Paajarvi scored two goals in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Maple Leafs.
His second strike of the night knotted the score at 4-4 early in the third period, but the Senators weren't able to finish the job. Paajarvi has only seven goals (and eight points) on the season, but four of those tallies have come in the last six games. Unless he works his way into a top-six role or onto the power play, however, the veteran winger's fantasy value will remain very limited.

Senators' Magnus Paajarvi: Heating up for Ottawa
Paajarvi produced a shorthanded goal Saturday in a 3-2 loss to the Blues.
It initially appeared that Zack Smith was going to launch a rocket from the slot, but his fake caught a defender by surprise with the puck ultimately deflecting off Paajarvi's skate and bouncing into the cage. The Swede, who spent parts of five seasons with the Blues, has goals in back-to-back games as a bottom-six contributor for a Senators team with extremely long odds of making the playoffs.

The 27-year-old is set to return after missing the last two games, but getting Paajarvi back is of little consequence when you consider he's managed just three goals and an assist in 38 games this season. He last found the scoresheet Dec. 1, so it's probably best to look elsewhere for fantasy help.

Paajarvi is unlikely to captivate the masses in the fantasy realm. as he hasn't even come close to approaching the 34 points that he accrued as a rookie with the Oilers in 2010-11. Nowadays, the Swedish-born winger is starting the majority of his shifts in the defensive zone and seeing meaningful playing time on the penalty kill.

Paajarvi notched just two goals and two helpers in 44 games to the Blues before being placed on waivers. However, besides for a 35-game stretch in the 2016-17 campaign, Paajarvi wasn't able to secure a full-time role with the Blues through five seasons. With the Senators, the 2009 first-round pick accrued six goals and eight points while playing in 35 straight games, and he was never scratched. Paajarvi will be an unrestricted free agent this summer.

Paajarvi scored on both of his shots Monday, helping the Senators to a 5-3 road win over the Panthers.
The Swede gave Roberto Luongo fits, as he tipped in a goal during the first period and then beat the veteran with a clean sweep from the slot in the third frame. Paajarvi entered this contest with only two goals in 20 games for the Senators, so this performance really came out of nowhere. It's disappointing to know that 2009's 10th overall draft pick (originally from Edmonton) has failed to earn a consistent top-six role despite tours with the Oilers, Blues and Senators in his career thus far.

Senators' Magnus Paajarvi: Claimed by Ottawa
Paajarvi was claimed off waivers by the Senators on Friday.
Paajarvi was the odd man out in St. Louis when Jaden Schwartz (ankle) returned, leading him to the waiver wire. The 26-year-old winger played 44 games for the Blues this season, but he simply didn't add much, logging zero points and 11 shots on goal in eight games since the calendar flip. Paajarvi has promise, though, as some might remember when he scored the game-winning, overtime goal last season in Game 5 against the Wild to send the Blues to the second round of the playoffs. Expect Paajarvi to stay in a bottom-six role for the Senators.

Paajarvi was designated for waivers Thursday.
Paarjarvi was the odd man out as the Blues needed to create space in the roster in order to activate Jaden Schwartz (ankle) off injured reserve. The 26-year-old Paarjarvi is pointless in his previous 15 contests and hasn't found the back of the net since Nov. 4 against Toronto. If he clears waivers, the Swede figures to be assigned to the minors, likely AHL Chicago, although where he lands could change since St. Louis doesn't currently have a designated affiliate.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Spending time with top-six unit
Paajarvi threw one shot on goal in Sunday's 4-0 defeat to Winnipeg.
Despite not largely appearing on the statsheet, Paajarvi has been spending nearly all of his ice time in his last three games on a line with Vladimir Tarasenko and Brayden Schenn -- both of whom are averaging above a point per game at the moment. Although Paajarvi hasn't had much point production this season only chipping in four points (two assists, two goals) in 32 games, this is an excellent opportunity for the former first-round pick to pick up his scoring pace and secure a role in St. Louis' top six.

Paajarvi has averaged just 10:12 of ice time in his previous five outings.
After averaging over 12 minutes through the opening 10 contests of the year, Paajarvi suddenly finds himself watching from the bench more often than not. Whether Paajarvi remains a healthy scratch long term likely depends on the performance of Beau Bennett -- who rejoined the lineup following a four-game stint in the press box.

Blues' Magnus Paajarvi: Leader as third-line winger
Paajarvi will be on a line with Oskar Sundqvist and rookie Tage Thompson for Wednesday's opener against the Penguins.
Paajarvi has played in 308 NHL games between Edmonton and St. Louis. His linemates? They've played a combined 28. Paajarvi has been a lifetime third-line man, and he hasn't played over 55 games in a season since the 2013-14 campaign. After head coach Mike Yeo took over last season, he played every game, posting seven goals, five assists and a plus-9 rating through 29 contests. Thompson likely wouldn't have made the 23-man roster if it wasn't for injuries, but he proved to Yeo that he could be a valuable asset at just 19 years old. The adjustment phase may be difficult, but this line had chemistry in camp and could be a sneaky source of points for an injury-riddled squad.
