Devils' Brian Strait: Secures two-year contract
Strait inked a two-year, two-way deal with New Jersey on Tuesday.
Strait played exclusively in the minors this season with AHL Binghamton, for which he tallied three goals, five assists and 52 PIM. Given the Devils' current blue line makeup, it seems likely Strait will spend the upcoming 2018-19 campaign primarily in the minors, but will serve as a solid depth call-up for the organization when injuries inevidentably occur.

Devils' Brian Strait: Designated for waivers
Strait landed on the waiver wire Monday, Rick Ralph of TSN 1290 Winnipeg reports.
Strait managed to crack the Jets' game-day lineup just five times last season -- instead spending much of the year with AHL Manitoba where he logged 58 games and tallied 14 points. The Boston University product will join AHL Binghamton if he clears waivers and will probably remain in the minors for much of the 2017-18 campaign.

Devils' Brian Strait: Signs with New Jersey
Strait's one-year, two-way contract with the Devils is worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $200,00 in the minors, per CapFriendly.
The Boston University product spent the bulk of the 2016-17 season with AHL Manitoba, a minor-league affiliate of the Jets, producing 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 36 PIM over 58 games. He was up in the NHL for five contests, tacking on five assists over that span. New Jersey is the fourth NHL team to have acquired Strait over the course of his career; the Massachusetts native was picked by the Penguins in the third round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, but he logged just 12 NHL games over two seasons in the Burgh before the Islanders took him in for 170 matches between 2012-16. We'd love to give Strait the benefit of the doubt now that he has a clean slate with a new franchise, but he'll be hard-pressed to earn enough playing time to lift brows in the fantasy realm.

Jets' Brian Strait: Will be closer to home
Strait signed a one-year, two-way contract with New Jersey on Saturday.
Strait only played five NHL games last season, but he does have considerable experience -- playing over 45 big-league games in a season on three separate campaigns. Although he's never eclipsed the 10-point mark, Strait still stands a chance to possibly snag at least the seventh-man role in a young, New Jersey defensive core.

Jets' Brian Strait: Sent down to minors
Strait was reassigned to AHL Manitoba on Thursday.
Strait heads back to the minors now that the Jets are starting to get healthy on the blue line. The 29-year-old appears to have been beaten out for a spot in the lineup not only by the returning injured, but also by youngsters Julian Melchiori and Nelson Nogier, as Winnipeg has started thinking about the 2017-18 campaign and evaluating the talent within the organization.

Jets' Brian Strait: Brought up to NHL
Strait was recalled from AHL Manitoba on Saturday.
Jacob Trouba is dealing with an upper-body injury, so the Jets brought up Strait as insurance ahead of Sunday's home game against the Wild. We view the American defenseman as a stay-at-home type and not someone who will light it up to the benefit of your fantasy team.

Jets' Brian Strait: Sent back to AHL
Strait was reassigned to AHL Manitoba on Friday.
The blueliner was up for less than two full days, and didn't play in Thursday's win over the Blackhawks. It's no guarantee, but he could just be going down on a temporary basis to play in Manitoba's pair of games this weekend during the NHL's All-Star break. If that's the case, he'll find his way back to the big club before Tuesday's game.

Jets' Brian Strait: Called up from minors
Strait was recalled from AHL Manitoba on Wednesday.
Strait was sent down to the minors following the conclusion of training camp back in October. Despite the call-up, there is no guarantee that the 29-year-old will get to make his 2016-17 debut, given that the Jets are currently carrying eight active defenders on the 23-man roster. The blueliner's production in the minors -- no goals and five helpers -- should be a red flag for fantasy owners.

Jets' Brian Strait: Waived for reassignment
Strait was placed on waivers Monday in order to reassign him to the minors along with two others.
Strait joined the Jets from the Islanders during the offseason on a one-year deal, but will be sent down to AHL Manitoba if he clears waivers. Last season, the blueliner saw action in just 52 contests and was only able to tally six points in those outings. In addition to Strait, the team also waived Anthony Peluso and Julian Melchiori.

Jets' Brian Strait: Heads to Winnipeg on one-year deal
Strait (upper body) signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Jets on Friday.
Strait appeared in 52 games with the Islanders last season, tallying just six points (one goal, five assists) over that span. The 28-year-old blueliner will provide the Jets with additional depth at defense next season, but may be the odd man out on most nights, watching his team play from the press box as a healthy scratch. Strait was dealing with an upper-body injury at the end of the 2015-16 season, but should be ready for training camp in September.

Islanders' Brian Strait: Out Thursday
Strait (upper body) wasn't on the ice for pregame warm-ups, indicating he won't play Thursday against the Rangers.
Strait's absence won't have any impact on fantasy owners' lineups, as the 28-year-old blueliner has only tallied six points in 52 games this season and should be minimally owned in fantasy leagues. The Islanders can be expected to provide an update on Strait's status once he's ready to return to game action.

Islanders' Brian Strait: Will not return to Tuesday's game
Strait will not return to Tuesday's game against the Capitals because of an upper-body injury, Frank Seravalli of TSN Sports reports.
Strait left Tuesday's game during the third period with an upper-body injury, which will force him to sit out the rest of the contest. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but we should see his status updated following the game. He'll have two days until the Islanders play the the Rangers on Thursday, so consider him questionable for that outing until further information is given.

Islanders' Brian Strait: To start Thursday
Strait will get the starting nod Thursday against the Capitals, Arthur Staple of Newsday reports.
Strait will take the place of the injured Calvin De Haan (lower body), who isn't expected to return to the ice until some point next week. The 28-year-old defenseman is projected to lineup alongside Travis Hamonic in the Isles' first defensive pairing.

Islanders' Brian Strait: Scores rare goal
Strait scored his first goal of the year Tuesday in a 5-2 win over Columbus.
A Strait goal is a blessed rarity -- this was his sixth in 156 games -- and he might want to buy Jackets netminder Anton Forsberg a beer after the youngster flat-out whiffed on his shot from the point. But hey, it's nice to see a guy who doesn't usually show up on the scoresheet get a little repayment for his contributions.
