Joe Vitale: Heading into broadcasting
Vitale will join the St. Louis Blues as a radio analyst.
Vitale hasn't played since the 2015-16 campaign when he was with Arizona, but the move officially ends his playing career. While the 32-year-old never played for his hometown Blues, he did log 234 NHL games in which he tallied 11 goals, 33 assists and 156 PIM. The center was known more for his gritty style of play than his offensive production and should bring a similar flair to his color commentating.

Red Wings' Joe Vitale: Placed on long-term IR
Vitale (concussion) is listed on long-term injured reserve, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Vitale was a throw-in player from Arizona during the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, when the Red Wings were able to get rid of Pavel Datsyuk's $7.5 cap hit after deciding he wouldn't play out the final year of his contract. He hasn't played since sustaining the concussion in the first game last season and remains out indefinitely.

Red Wings' Joe Vitale: Out for year with concussion recovery
Vitale (concussion) has been ruled out for the season by Red Wings general manager Ken Holland, Mike Halford of NBCSports.com reports.
Vitale suffered the concussion after a fight with Boston's Kevan Miller last October, and was limited to just the one game. The 31-year-old center, along with two draft picks, was traded from Arizona to Detroit for Pavel Datsyuk and the 16th overall pick during the offseason.

Red Wings' Joe Vitale: Swaps sweaters Friday
The Coyotes traded Vitale (concussion) and a pair of 2016 draft picks (No. 20 and No. 53 overall) to the Red Wings on Friday in exchange for Pavel Datsyuk and the 16th overall selection in 2016.
Vitale only appeared in one game in the 2015-16 season, as he was TKO'd by Boston's Kevan Miller in a fight last October. The 30-year-old fractured his orbital bone and ultimately experienced "concussion-related issues." It's not clear how Vitale's recovery is going, but the Wings still must be ecstatic with this deal, as it means the club no longer has to worry about Datsyuk's $7.5 million cap hit for the upcoming season.

Coyotes' Joe Vitale: Out for season
Vitale (concussion-related issues) will miss the remainder of the season, Sarah McLellan of AZCentral reports. "There's been no real measurable progress," general manager Don Maloney said.
Vitale played in just one game this season, fighting the Bruins' Kevan Miller and is still suffering ill-effects from that. Vitale has 44 points in 234 career NHL games and hasn't broken 14 points in a NHL season. He'll miss the remainder of the season as a result of this injury, though it's still unclear as to the specifics of what happened.

Coyotes' Joe Vitale: Out 4-6 weeks
Vitale will be sidelined for the next 4-to-6 weeks with a fractured orbital bone, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Vitale reportedly suffered the injury during his fight with the Bruins' Kevan Miller in Saturday's tilt against Boston. Vitale was placed on injured reserve Monday, and could now land on long-term injured reserve given his recovery timetable. The 30-year-old forward doesn't have any value in fantasy leagues, so his absence isn't anything owners need to concern themselves with.

Coyotes' Joe Vitale: Placed on injured reserve
Vitale (upper body) has been placed on injured reserve.
This move should come as no surprise considering coach Dave Tippett said Vitale would "miss some time" after Saturday's loss to the Bruins. Vitale skated 6:13 and finished with a plus-1 rating while making his season debut. Forward Matthias Plachta was recalled to take Vitale's spot on Arizona's roster.

Coyotes' Joe Vitale: Expected to miss time
Head coach Dave Tippett indicated Sunday that Vitale (upper body) will "miss some time".
Vitale was injured in Saturday's game against the Bruins, and it appears the issue isn't necessarily minor in nature. While there's no official timetable, it sounds as though Tuesday's game is out the window at this point.

Coyotes' Joe Vitale: Not present at practice
Vitale (upper body) was not on the ice for practice Sunday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Vitale's absence isn't a huge surprise given the pummeling he took in a fight during Saturday's contest. The Coyotes don't play again until Tuesday, however, so it's possible he'll be back in time for the game.

Pens' Vitale Practices With Crosby And Kunitz
Vitale skated with Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz during Friday's game-day skate. With Pascal Dupuis sidelined, it looks like the Pens will give Vitale first crack on the Crosby line. He has the speed to keep up with Crosby and a grinder's edge to match Kunitz's. Vitale has only eight goals and 32 points in 147 career NHL games, but could prove to be a worthy short-term pickup. The fourth-year forward has six points in his last 12 games.... See More ... See Less -
