Colin Greening: Ends professional career
Greening announced his retirement from professional hockey, CBC reports.
Greening saw action in 286 NHL games in his career, in which he notched 45 goals and 57 helpers. The center hasn't been in the league since 2015-16, spending the previous three years in the minors with AHL Toronto. With his playing days behind him, the 33-year-old plans to go back to school to further his education.

Greening was unable to get on the ice for Toronto last year, as he spent the entire campaign with the Marlies. In the minors, the 31-year-old garnered 10 goals and 14 assists in 69 contests. With 286 NHL games under his belt, the center should be among the potential call-ups throughout the 2017-18 season.

Greening has signed a one-year deal with the Maple Leafs.
Greening was a staple for the AHL Toronto Marlies, collecting 24 points (10 goals, 14 assists) in 69 regular-season games. He added four points in 11 Calder Cup playoff games. Greening will be a key depth guy for the Marlies again this year.

Generally, Greening is a fringe NHL player but he saw extensive action with the Maple Leafs (30 games) in 2015-16 due to an onslaught of injuries for the club. The group has now returned to nearly full health, and the 30-year-old failed to secure a spot with the team.

Maple Leafs' Colin Greening: Picks up goal, assist in win
Greening netted a goal and added an assist over 17:33 of ice time in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Flyers.
April has apparently been the month that Greening was waiting for, as he now has goals in three of his last four games. Unfortunately for the Leafs, the timing couldn't be worse, as they have only one game remaining and nothing to play for. Nonetheless, Greening should have plenty of opportunities in the Leafs' next game against the Devils to finish the season on a high note.

Maple Leafs' Colin Greening: Two-goal game Monday
Greening had two goals in Toronto's 4-3 loss to Florida on Monday night.
One came on the power play. The tall Newf has 13 points in 27 games for the Leafs this season. Greening is a role player at this point in his career and that means there's minimal fantasy value in his game. But he does have three goals in his last two games and may get more opportunities with Nazem Kadri suspended.

Just sent down Sunday, Greening comes right back to the Leafs along with a wave of young players. The speedy forward is projected to return to a third-line role in which he'll continue holding minimal fantasy value.

Greening was assigned to AHL Toronto on Sunday, Chris Johnston of Sportsnet reports.
Greening made eight appearances with the Leafs following his Feb. 9 acquisition from the Senators, tallying one goal and two assists on 18 shot attempts. His demotion could signal that the Leafs expect to have at least one of Tyler Bozak (head) or Milan Michalek (finger) back in the fold for Monday's game against the Lightning.

Maple Leafs' Colin Greening: Pots first goal of 2015-16
Greening scored his first goal of the year while skating 18:17 in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers.
It was his first goal since Dec. 29, 2014, when Greening was still a Senator, and that goal was his only point in 26 games last season. Once upon a time, Greening was a 37-point man, but his career fell on hard times in Ottawa. He has, however, been seeing solid ice time since being dealt to Toronto in the Dion Phaneuf trade, including his highest yet Thursday. He's been over 17 minutes, including heavy power-play time, in three of his four games as a Leaf and has provided points in the last two games, so clearly coach Mike Babcock has seen something he likes.

Maple Leafs' Colin Greening: Joins Maple Leafs, to play Thursday
Greening has joined the Maple Leafs as an emergency recall rather than the club's AHL affiliate, and is slated to draw into the lineup Thursday, Mark Masters of TSN reports.
Expected to be bound for the team's AHL affiliate, Greening will instead join an injury-depleted Maple Leafs club. He took part in the team's morning skate Thursday, playing alongside Mark Arcobello and P.A. Parentau on the team's second line, and seems destined to slot in there for the evening's contest against the Oilers. However, his stay with the parent club likely won't last past the returns of the Maple Leafs' normal forwards.

Maple Leafs' Colin Greening: Changes Canadian locales to Toronto
Greening was traded to the Maple Leafs on Tuesday along with Milan Michalek, Jared Cowen, Tobias Lindberg and a draft pick in exchange for Dion Phaneuf and several prospects.
Once a regular with the Sens, Greening had been toiling in AHL Binghamton, where he put up a modest 13 points to accompany a minus-9 rating in 41 games. He'll likely report to the Leafs' AHL club, the Toronto Marlies.

Greening (head) has returned to AHL action, scoring a goal and receiving two penalty minutes in a game with the Binghamton Senators.
Greening suffered a head injury during the preseason, but seems to be well past that. He'll continue to provide the Senators with organizational depth, and could be a candidate to be recalled should the Senators suffer an injury in their forward ranks.

Skating Again On Monday
Greening told reporters that Monday was the second day he had skated since taking a big hit from the Sabres' Jason Akeson in Saturday's preseason contest against Buffalo, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.It isn't clear whether or not Greening suffered a concussion as a result of the blow, but the 29-year-old winger told reporters that he hopes to play in Tuesday's preseason matchup with Winnipeg, but still has to "pass some other tests" before he's cleared to play. Greening's chances of securing an Opening Night roster spot with the Senators are probably slim, and he will likely once again split time between the AHL and NHL this season.... See More ...
