Quinton Howden: Joining Russian club
Howden secured a contract with Dinamo-Minsk of the KHL on Friday.
Howden saw action in a mere five contests with Winnipeg last season -- instead spending the bulk of the campaign with AHL Manitoba. While in the minors, the center tallied 13 goals and 11 helpers in 58 appearances. Selected in the first round of the 2010 NHL Draft, the 25-year-old has failed to live up to expectations, but could get another shot in the league if he can put together a solid year in the KHL.

Quinton Howden: Will head to free agency
Howden wasn't extended a qualifying offer by the Jets and will become an unrestricted free agent.
After playing in 58 games for the Panthers during the 2015 campaign, Howden went on to play in just five games for the Jets this past season, which wasn't enough time for him to earn another contract. Despite failing to receive a qualifying offer, he can negotiate with the Jets on a new contract over the next few days before free agency opens on July 1, but he'll likely end up elsewhere once all is said and done.

Jets' Quinton Howden: Sent down to minors
Howden was returned to AHL Manitoba on Wednesday.
Howden had been up with the parent club due to injuries to Mathieu Perrault (lower body) and Drew Stafford (upper body), but the latter has been activated from injured reserve and presumably is ready to play in Wednesday's game against the Wild. Howden is a depth winger, as his playing time currently depends on the health of others.

Howden was called up from the minors Saturday.
Howden was afforded a spot with the big club in the wake of news that Mathieu Perrault (lower body) is on injured reserved. The former brings size to the lineup at 6-foot-2 and 189 pounds, and he could prove to be an adequate stop-gap option for the Jets during shorthanded situations.

Howden signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Jets on Friday.
Howden appeared in 58 games with the Panthers last season, tallying 11 points (six goals, five assists) while averaging just 10:22 of ice time in a limited role. The 24-year-old winger could carve out a bottom-six role with the Jets in 2016-17, but may begin the season in the minors with AHL Manitoba.

Panthers' Quinton Howden: Returning Sunday
Howden (upper body) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Wild, Harvey Fialkov of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
It appears as though Howden will skate on the team's top line alongside Alexsander Barkov and Jaromir Jagr in his return, giving the club some added depth until Teddy Purcell and Jiri Hudler join the team. While he may receive a bump in ice time Sunday, it will likely only be temporary.

Howden (upper body) will miss at least another week general manager Dale Tallon told reporters Wednesday, Harvey Fialkov of the Sun Sentinel reports.
This effectively rules Howden out for the next three contests on top of the three he's already missed. This news likely has little impact on your daily lineups, as the winger has tallied a paltry 11 points in 48 outings, however the Panthers will hope to get the 2010 first-round pick back as soon as possible.

Panthers' Quinton Howden: Misses skate, doubtful Monday
Howden (upper body) didn't participate in the Panthers' morning skate Monday, and appears on track to miss the evening's contest against the Maple Leafs, Craig Davis of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Coach Gerard Gallant indicated that the youngster shouldn't miss too much time because of the issue, but the fact that he didn't skate Monday combined with the statement all but explicitly ruled out Howden on Monday. Assuming that's the case, Greg McKegg will likely draw into the lineup in his place, making his season debut for the Panthers.

Howden will not return to Saturday's game due to an upper body injury.
Howden was shaken up on a check during Saturday's game against Nashville and will not be able to return to action. If he is ruled out for Monday's game against the Penguins, the Panthers will need to adjust their third line. Garrett Wilson would be the likeliest candidate to take his spot at left wing.

Howden tapped home an empty-net goal to seal a 5-2 victory over Washington on Tuesday.
Howden struggled early in the season to beat opposing netminders, and it helped that there wasn't one in the way for this goal. He's more broadly finding his form, though, with three tallies in his last five outings. Nonetheless, the winger's opportunities to get on the scoresheet are somewhat limited while he's seeing around 10 minutes of ice time per game.

Howden tallied an assist in 7:42 of ice time in Tuesday's victory over the Senators.
The former first-round pick struggles to get consistent ice time and rarely finds himself in good scoring opportunities; however, he did manage to score his first point since Dec. 3 with his third assist of the season. In 30 games, Howden has three goals and six points while averaging less than 11 minutes of ice time per game.

This news isn't likely to create much uproar in the fantasy realm as Howden is a low-end forward with limited upside handling the puck. The 23-year-old only has four points in 16 games, with the 45 hits this season standing as the main category for which he's useful.

Panthers' Quinton Howden: Notches first points of season
Howden notched his first two points of the season Tuesday, scoring a goal and adding an assist in an overtime loss to the Penguins. He finished plus-2 with three shots and four hits.
Howden powered the Panthers' third-period comeback by becoming the first to break through against Pittsburgh's Marc-Andre Fleury at 11:04, and less than three minutes later, he helped out on Derek MacKenzie's first goal of the year to tie the game. A first-round pick in 2010, Howden's seen his development stagnate since his 30-point AHL debut in 2012-13 and is skating fourth-line minutes, so there's not much to see here from a fantasy perspective.
