  • Ryan Garbutt: Signs KHL deal

Garbutt agreed to terms on a one-year deal with KHL Sochi on Wednesday, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.

Garbutt split time between the NHL and AHL this season, as he played in 27 contests for the Ducks, collecting a pair of goals and one assist. In his career, the winger has 305 NHL games under his belt, with 87 points and 283 PIM to show for it. The 31-year-old will now head overseas in order to extend his playing career.

  • Ducks' Ryan Garbutt: Assigned to AHL on Saturday

Garbutt was assigned to AHL San Diego on Saturday.

After clearing waivers, Garbutt will head to the minors where he will look to get more playing time than the 9:10 on average that the Ducks were giving him. The 31-year-old winger managed only three points and 26 shots on goal during this stint in Anaheim.

  • Ducks' Ryan Garbutt: Waived Thursday

Garbutt was placed on waivers Thursday, Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.com reports.

Garbutt's placement on waivers is likely a procedural roster move, considering he has played in all 27 games for the Ducks this year. If he goes unclaimed, the winger can remain in the NHL, but he would be eligible to be sent down to the minors without having to be waived again in the future.

  • Ducks' Ryan Garbutt: Scores first goal of 2016-17

Garbutt scored his first goal of the season on his only shot on net during Thursday's game against Philadelphia.

Garbutt has averaged just 9:16 of ice time through the first five games of the season, which significantly limits his fantasy upside. And after posting a respectable campaign during the 2013-14 season (17 goals and 32 points with a plus-10 rating, 106 penalty minutes, 165 shots and 141 hits), the 31-year-old winger declined all the way down to seven goals and seven assists last year. He still owns value in leagues that include real-time statistics, but he's unlikely help enough offensively to be anything more than a low-end fantasy option.

  • Ducks' Ryan Garbutt: To see an increase in ice time

Garbutt should be seeing an increase in ice time, reports the Orange County Register.

Coach Bruce Boudreau was quoted after Friday's game saying that he "was trying to figure out how [to] get [Garbutt] more ice time [since] he's playing really good." While he's currently averaging 10:20 of ice time this season, he's seen an average of 11:23 in his last six games. The increase in playing time should only serve to further boost what has been a nice fresh start for the 30-year-old. He's tallied four points in 15 games with the Ducks after tallying just six points in 43 games with the Blackhawks earlier this season.

  • Ducks' Ryan Garbutt: Heading to Anahiem

Garbutt was acquired from the Blackhawks on Thursday.

Garbutt has struggled in his first season with the Blackhawks, tallying only six points in 43 contests. Originally brought in as part of the deal for Patrick Sharp, the 30-year-old never quite fit within Chicago's system. With just one goal in his last 25 outings, the winger will look to reset with the Ducks.

  • Blackhawks' Ryan Garbutt: Rare goal holds up as game-winner

Garbutt scored just his second goal of the year Thursday, and it held up as the game-winner against the Canadiens.

Garbutt was a useful fantasy asset in PIM formats two years ago with Dallas, when he notched 17 goals, 15 assists, 106 PIM and a plus-10 rating, but he hasn't come close to that level of production since. This rare tally doesn't seem likely to change things for him, but hey, at least he got to play double-digit minutes for the first time in 10 games.

  • Blackhawks' Ryan Garbutt: One shot on goal in return

Garbutt (illness) returned to action Saturday against the Blues, putting one shot on net.

Garbutt saw just 9:01 of action in Saturday's contest, adding a hit to his shot on goal on what was a relatively quiet night for him overall. He should be back on the ice again Sunday against the Flames.

  • Blackhawks' Ryan Garbutt: Out Thursday

As expected, Garbutt (illness) won't suit up for Thursday's game against the Devils, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.

Garbutt has now missed back-to-back games due to illness. Andrew Shaw is expected to skate on the Hawks' first line in Garbutt's absence. The 30-year-old winger will hope to draw back into Chicago's lineup Saturday against the Blues.

  • Blackhawks' Ryan Garbutt: Likely out Thursday

Garbutt (illness) likely won't play Thursday against the Devils, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Garbutt missed Sunday's game against Edmonton due to an illness, and likely won't play Thursday against New Jersey, as he hasn't been able to practice in any capacity leading up to the contest. If he is held out of Thursday's tilt, Andrew Shaw is expected to replace him on Chicago's top line.
