Maple Leafs' Matt Read: Let go from PTO
Read signed a minor-league contract with Toronto after being released from a professional tryout offer Monday.
The 33-year-old was a long shot to make the Maple Leafs' roster, but he'll be a solid leader for their young players' development in the minors. Read played in 61 AHL games last year for Minnesota's affiliate, posting 16 goals and 37 points.

Maple Leafs' Matt Read: Inks PTO with Leafs
Read signed a professional tryout offer with the Leafs on Friday, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports.
Read spent the majority of the 2018-19 campaign in the minors, notching 16 goals and 37 points in 61 games with AHL Iowa, but he also made 12 appearances at the NHL level with the Wild, scoring one goal over that span while averaging 11:45 of ice time per contest. The 33-year-old hasn't eclipsed the 20-point mark since 2015-16, so even if he makes Toronto's roster, it's highly unlikely that he'll have any fantasy value.

Wild's Matt Read: Sent down to AHL
Read was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Monday.
Read played sparingly in his latest stint with Minnesota, and has just one goal in 12 games this campaign. With the team signing coveted free agent Nico Sturm, the 32-year-old was sent down in order to make room for the new addition. Read will likely spend the remainder of the season in the minors.

Wild's Matt Read: Avoids demotion
Read is still with the Wild after clearing waivers and will suit up against the Golden Knights on Friday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
By waiving Read, the club gave itself some roster flexibility, but Zach Parise's (lower body) continued absence from the lineup will keep Read in the NHL for the time being. Once Parise is cleared to play, however, Read should find himself making the trek down to AHL Iowa.

Wild's Matt Read: Hits waivers
The Wild placed Read on waivers Thursday.
Read drew into the last three games for the Wild as a fill-in for some of the injured forwards, but he'll likely head back to the minors with some of the regular forwards nearing a return. Considering the veteran winger tallied just one point (a goal) over 10 NHL contests this season, there's little upside for him from a fantasy standpoint at this stage of his career.

Wild's Matt Read: Back with Minnesota
Read was recalled from AHL Iowa on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
Read has bounced back and forth between Minnesota and AHL Iowa several times this season, mostly as injury insurance. The 32-year-old has 15 goals and 33 points in the minors this season, but just one goal in seven NHL contests.

Wild's Matt Read: Sent back down
Read was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Saturday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Read was called up under emergency conditions, but the winger descends to the minors after skating to a minus-2 rating in a 6-2 loss to the Panthers on Thursday. This development also signals that Luke Kunin (upper body) and/or Victor Rask (undisclosed) should be ready to rock for Monday's game against the Sharks.

Wild's Matt Read: Emergency call-up
Read was summoned from AHL Iowa under emergency conditions Wednesday.
Read wore out his welcome in Philadelphia, and he's been used sparingly with Minnesota since penning a one-year deal with the club in July of 2018. While he's produced 15 goals and just as many assists through 49 games for Iowa, Read's only averaged 11:32 of ice time through six top-level games this season. As a result, he shouldn't be relied upon for fantasy playoff action.

Wild's Matt Read: Drops to minors
The Wild assigned Read to AHL Iowa on Tuesday.
Read was emergency recalled to add depth since the Wild only had 12 healthy forwards. His services weren't needed, however, so he'll head back to minors. The Wild may look into bringing Read back up for its upcoming road trip to Florida starting Tuesday in Tampa Bay.

Wild's Matt Read: Recalled ahead of Tuesday's game
Read was recalled under emergency conditions by the Wild on Monday.
The call-up from AHL Iowa will hope to crack the lineup Tuesday against the Predators. Read has often served as a healthy scratch with the big club, also notching a goal for his only point in six games with the Wild this season.

Wild's Matt Read: Opens Wild account
Read scored his first goal of the year in a 4-2 win over the Flames on Saturday.
Read was playing in his first game at the NHL level since Oct. 29. He added two shots, two hits and three blocked shots in the appearance. His stay in the NHL after Friday's recall is not expected to last long and his playing time is likely to be limited, but the goal may help to persuade coach Bruce Boudreau to give Read a longer look.

Wild's Matt Read: Promoted to parent club
Read was recalled from AHL Iowa on Friday.
Read will likely only provide depth for Minnesota's back-to-back games against Calgary and Nashville on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. In his last stint with Minnesota, he was a healthy scratch for two games.

Wild's Matt Read: Shifts back to minors
Read was reassigned to AHL Iowa on Sunday.
Read was with the big club for two games but was a healthy scratch for both. The 32-year-old's return to minors could be a good sign for the health of Matt Hendricks (undisclosed).

Wild's Matt Read: Called up Thursday
Read was recalled from AHL Iowa on Thursday.
Eric Staal (illness) and Matt Hendricks (undisclosed) are dealing with their respective issues ahead of Thursday night's contest against the Kings, so Read will be on hand as a reinforcement option in case either of the aforementioned players ends up needing more time. Either way, Read is not a recommended fantasy play as a guy whose playing time depends on the health of others.

Wild's Matt Read: Sent to AHL affiliate
The Wild reassigned Read to AHL Iowa on Wednesday.
Read's demotion to the minors suggests Matt Hendricks (lower body) is likely nearing a return to the lineup. The 32-year-old winger will continue to be one of the first players Minnesota turns to when dealing with injuries up front, but he won't have any fantasy value in 2018-19.

Wild's Matt Read: Summoned by parent club
The Wild recalled Read from AHL Iowa on Wednesday.
Matt Hendricks is currently day-to-day with a lower-body injury, so Read will likely fill in on Minnesota's fourth line if Hendricks is unable to go Friday against the Stars. The former Flyer has tallied one assist in three AHL appearances this campaign.

Wild's Matt Read: Likely ticketed for AHL Iowa
Read was waived by the Wild on Saturday, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Read fell out of favor in Philadelphia, but he signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Wild this summer. From a fantasy hockey perspective, it's never a good look when a veteran forward toils in the minors, and that happened all too often for Read in his final season contracted by the Flyers. Based on him being waived Saturday, it doesn't appear that he'll be bucking that trend despite a change of scenery.

Wild's Matt Read: Inks two-way deal with Wild
Read signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Wild on Monday.
Read appeared in 19 games with the Flyers last season and managed to score one goal, and he also appeared in 33 games for Lehigh Valley of the AHL and posted 16 total points. The 32-year-old has spent each of the last seven years with the Flyers, recording 87 goals and 100 assists in that span, but he will now return to where in played college hockey in Minnesota for his eighth NHL season.

Flyers' Matt Read: Finishes season in Philadelphia
Read played in just 25 games over 2017-18 including the playoffs, scoring two goals and logging an assist while averaging 11:18 of ice time.
Read was quickly dispatched to the minors after being a regular in the press box to start the season, but he was able to earn a promotion back to the big club on March 8 after collecting 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) in the AHL. Although Read's trade used to be depth scoring, he's switched to the role of a defensive forward, as he frequently appeared on the fourth line and with Sean Couturier on the penalty kill down the stretch. The 30-year-old's due to become an unrestricted free agent, and with Philadelphia in the middle of a youth movement, he could very well don a jersey that isn't orange and black in 2018-19.
