David Warsofsky: Signs with German club
Warsofsky has signed a contract with ERC Ingolstadt of the DEL.
Warsofsky spent the entirety of the 2020-21 season in the minors, racking up 19 points through 22 games with AHL Chicago. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 31-year-old blueliner spend the rest of his playing career overseas. If that ends up coming to fruition, Warsofsky will finish his NHL career having totaled 11 points through 55 appearances split between the Bruins, Penguins, Devils and Avalanche.

Hurricanes' David Warsofsky: Packs bags for Carolina
The Maple Leafs traded Warsofsky and Yegor Korshkov to the Hurricanes for Alex Galchenyuk on Monday.
Warsofsky was subsequently assigned to AHL Chicago, where he'll play for his older brother, Ryan. The 30-year-old has yet to make his season debut in the AHL. Last year, he collected 10 goals and 23 assists over 51 AHL games.

Maple Leafs' David Warsofsky: Waived by Toronto
The Maple Leafs waived Warsofsky on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Warsofsky appeared in 51 games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, notching 10 goals and 23 points while posting an ugly minus-33 rating. He'll almost certainly spend the entirety of the upcoming campaign in the minors.

Maple Leafs' David Warsofsky: Included in trade deal
Warsofsky was traded to Toronto from Pittsburgh on Tuesday, along with Evan Rodrigues, Filip Hallander and a 2020 first-round pick, in a swap for Kasperi Kapanen, Pontus Aberg and Jesper Lindgren.
Warsofsky was placed on waivers for the purpose of reassignment to the minors by Pittsburgh back in September and never earned a call-up to the NHL. In 51 appearances for the Baby Pens, the 30-year-old blueliner notched 10 goals and 23 helpers, though he registered a concerning minus-33 rating. With Cody Ceci and Tyson Barrie set for unrestricted free agency, there could be a spot on the 23-man roster for Warsofsky next year, though it would likely be as the sixth or seventh defenseman.

Penguins' David Warsofsky: Hits waiver wire
Warsofsky was designated for waivers Monday for the purpose of reassignment to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
When Warsofsky returned to the Penguins organization in the offseason, he had to know that the logjam on blueliners ahead of him would likely land him with the Baby Pens. The 29-year-old notched five helpers in 16 games for Colorado last year, while also contributing 32 points in 51 minor-league contests. Given his familiarity with the club, the Massachusetts native should be on the shortlist of potential call-ups throughout the year.

Penguins' David Warsofsky: Returns to Burgh
Warsofsky signed a two-year, two-way contract with Pittsburgh on Monday worth $1.4 million at the NHL level.
After a two-year stint with Colorado, Warsofsky rejoins the Penguins organization on a two-way deal. Given Pittsburgh's blue line depth, the 29-year-old will likely need somebody to pick up an injury to crack the 23-man roster, but should be atop the shortlist of potential call-ups.

Warsofsky was placed on waivers by the Avalanche on Monday, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Warsofsky has struggled to break into the NHL on a permanent basis, having logged a career-high 16 games last season. The 28-year-old will have to start the season in the minors with AHL Colorado if he is unclaimed and could struggle to earn a call-up given the blue line depth within the organization.

Avalanche's David Warsofsky: Plays seldomly in 2017-18
Warsofsky only managed to draw into 16 NHL games during the regular season and three of five during the Stanley Cup playoffs this year. He picked up five assists and 24 blocked shots in that time.
As a journeyman who chronically teetered between the NHL and AHL San Antonio and averaged a career-low 13:24 of ice time at the highest level, Warsofsky was presumably waiver fodder in the vast majority of fantasy leagues. The 2018 fourth-round draft pick has one year remaining on his contract that comes with a $700,000 base salary that shrinks to $350,000 if he's assigned to the top developmental affiliate.

Warsofsky was recalled from AHL San Antonio on Friday.
Warsofsky has played in six games for the Avalanche, posting zero points and plus-1 rating while averaging 14:09 of ice time. His play in minors has been more encouraging, though, compiling four goals and 16 helpers in 47 games while racking up 24 PIM. There's now eight healthy defensemen in Colorado, so unless another blueliner gets sent down, Warsofsky may be hard-pressed for ice time.

With Anton Lindholm (upper body) cleared to return, the Avs clearly felt it was in Warsofsky's best interest to send him down to the minors. The blueliner will get significantly more ice time with the Rampage, but don't be surprised to see him back up with the Avs before the end of the season.

Warsofsky was brought up Monday from AHL San Antonio, per the AHL's official transaction log.
With Colorado's defense now looking thin with Erik Johnson (upper body) and Anton Lindholm (upper body) both out indefinitely, Warsofsky could immediately slot into a third pairing role. The 27-year-old has only appeared in eight games the last two seasons, but has been very productive in the AHL -- scoring 73 points (23 goals, 50 assists) in 107 games including the playoffs -- and excels at moving the puck despite his small 5-foot-9 frame.

The 27-year-old will rejoin the team after the All-Star break, and with injuries and illnesses ravaging Colorado's blue line at the moment, Warsofsky could suit up for Tuesday's clash against Vancouver. However, Warsofsky has only played in eight NHL games combined the last two seasons, so Andrei Mironov appears to be in more direct line to receive the nod.

Warsofsky has a sizable sample of NHL experience under his belt, making appearances at the top level while being a member of the Bruins, the Penguins, the Devils and again with the Penguins last season. An offensive-minded blueliner, he reached 47 points over 58 games last season with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and owns another 13 over 34 games with AHL San Antonio this season. If he could carve out a consistent role on an NHL squad at some point, there's a chance Warsofsky would sneak onto fantasy radars in some leagues.

Warsofsky was waived Sunday by the Avalanche, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
Warsofsky signed a two-year, two-way deal with the Avalanche back in July. Should the defenseman clear the waiver period without being claimed, he'll likely end up with the team's AHL affiliate in San Antonio.

Avalanche's David Warsofsky: Pens one-year contract
Warsofsky agreed to terms on a two-year, two-way deal with the Avalanche on Saturday.
Warsofsky could be in line for a regular role with Colorado after having spent the majority of the previous season in the minors with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. The Boston University product put up an impressive 16 goals and 31 helpers from the blue line with the Baby Pens, but was unlikely to see consistent ice in Pittsburgh. Now with the Avs, Warsofsky should see an uptick in games played and minutes -- which would make him a solid mid-range fantasy option.
