Beau Bennett: Announces retirement
Bennett announced his retirement on his personal Twitter page Friday.
Bennett played in 200 NHL games, racking up 24 goals and 40 assists across six seasons between the Penguins, Devils and Blues. He spent a year with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL in 2018-19, then returned to North America with AHL Tucson a year later, but that didn't lead to another NHL opportunity.

Coyotes' Beau Bennett: Arrives in Arizona
Bennett signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Coyotes on Monday.
Bennett was supposed to spend the 2018-19 campaign with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL, but he was cut loose by the team after failing to live up to expectations through the first five games of the season. The 27-year-old last played in North America in 2017-18 when he racked up 12 goals and 57 points in 60 appearances with AHL Chicago. The 2010 first-round pick will likely spend most of the upcoming campaign in the minors, but it wouldn't be surprising to see him join the big club for a game or two on occasion.

Blues' Beau Bennett: Cut by KHL team
Bennett has been let go by Dinamo Minsk after struggling to produce through the first five games.
Bennett was hoping to jump-start his career by heading overseas after opting against signing a qualifying offer from the Blues. Unfortunately, it appears the oft-injured winger simply couldn't fit into the KHL style of play. If the California native returns to St. Louis, he will almost certainly be shipped to the minors.

Beau Bennett: Taking talents to KHL
Bennett signed a one-year contract with Minsk Dinamo of the KHL on Friday, Igor Eronko of Sport-Express reports.
Bennett received a qualifying offer from the Blues, but evidently, the 2010 first-round (20th overall) draft pick -- he was drafted by the Penguins -- believes that he can grow his game overseas. Bennett has recorded 24 goals, 40 assists and 52 PIM after NHL stops in Pittsburgh, New Jersey and St. Louis.

Blues' Beau Bennett: Earns qualifying offer from Blues
Bennett was extended a qualifying offer by St. Louis on Sunday, Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Bennett was waived by the Blues before the 2017-18 season began, but he cleared waivers and was assigned to AHL Chicago. He was called up less than a month later to make a run for a roster spot, but zero points and a minus-2 rating landed him back in minors after just six games. However, the 26-year-old winger's exceptional play in Chicago -- 12 goals and 57 points in 60 games -- forced the Blues to retain his rights.

Blues' Beau Bennett: Reassigned to minors Tuesday
Bennett was assigned to AHL Chicago on Tuesday.
Bennett did not contribute much of anything in the six games he played while up with the big club, recording no points and a minus-2 rating. The California native's demotion could mean that one of the Blues' injured players -- specifically Patrik Berglund (shoulder) or Jay Bouwmeester (ankle) -- is closer to a return than originally thought.

Blues' Beau Bennett: Called up from minors
Bennett was summoned from AHL Chicago on Monday.
Bennett has notched three points in five games in the minors so far this year, and it appears St. Louis will give him another shot to receive consistent time in the NHL. The 25-year-old recorded 19 points in 65 games last season for New Jersey, and although Bennett was once a top prospect, injuries derailed his development.

Blues' Beau Bennett: Waived Wednesday
Bennett was placed on waivers Wednesday.
You have to feel for Bennett -- a first-round pick of the Penguins in 2010, he's failed to fulfill his potential due to a litany of injuries. The former University of Denver star signed a one-year, one-way deal with St. Louis during the offseason, and all indications point to Bennett being demoted to the AHL if he clears waivers.

Blues' Beau Bennett: Inks deal with St. Louis
Bennett signed a one-year, one-way contract with the Blues on Saturday, Jeremy Rutherford of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
The 25-year-old Bennett spent six seasons in the the Penguins' organization before playing in New Jersey last season, when he posted a career-high eight goals and 19 points in 65 games. A former first-round pick (20th overall) in 2010, Bennett has not performed up to that billing. Injuries derailed his development early and he never caught on in Pittsburgh. The Blues can take a flier on him and have minutes available after David Perron was selected by Vegas and Patrik Berglund underwent shoulder surgery that will keep him out until at least December.

Beau Bennett: Free to test free agency
Bennett didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Devils and thus can become an unrestricted free agent Saturday, The Record reports.
Like several other first-round draft picks (Joe Morrow, Mikhail Grigorenko), Bennett received word Monday that he wouldn't be extended a contract offer by his current team. Drafted 20th overall by Pittsburgh in 2010, the California native's 19 points and 101 shots on goal last season (his first in New Jersey) were actually career highs, but leave much to be desired -- especially from a fantasy perspective. He shouldn't have trouble landing a deal with another organization, though, given his pedigree and the fact that he's still just 25 years old.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Scores twice in loss
Bennett scored twice in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Islanders.
His point streak is at a modest two games and three points (two goals, one assist). Bennett's fantasy potential was far greater in Pittsburgh than New Jersey. Just saying.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Lights lamp in desert
Bennett picked up his fourth goal of the season in Saturday's 5-4 loss against the Coyotes.
Bennett has managed a point in back-to-back games for just the third time this season. He still has managed just three goals and 13 points. Bennett has the potential to be an above-average scorer in this league, but the light hasn't gone off just yet. As such he is a bottom-six forward with very little in the way of fantasy appeal.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Coming back Thursday
Bennett (lower body) will return to the lineup for Thursday's home tilt against Ottawa, Mike Morreale of NHL.com reports.
The oft-injured Bennett has missed New Jersey's last nine games and will skate on the fourth line in his return. A 2010 first-round pick, Bennett possesses above-average offensive abilities despite what his stats indicate, but he hasn't proven to be effective as a bottom-six forward in his five NHL seasons.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Moving closer to return
Bennett (lower body) is expected to return at some point this coming week, per coach John Hynes, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
He's missed the past seven games at a critical time where the Devils have been trying to groom him into a full-time player. In 40 games, the former Penguin has added three goals with seven assists and a minus-4 rating.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Winds up on IR
Bennett (lower body) was placed on injured reserve -- retroactive to Jan. 20 -- on Wednesday.
The looming All-Star break will afford Bennett extra time to heal. He dealt with a leg injury in early December, only to sustain a separate lower-body ailment upon blocking a shot in a game against the Canadiens last Friday. Still, as bottom-six forward who's been averaging one point every four games, the development of Bennett going on IR shouldn't cause much of a stir in the fantasy realm.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Won't play Tuesday
Bennett (lower body) won't play in Tuesday's matchup with Los Angeles, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
The 25-year-old will miss his second-straight game as the result of blocking a shot Friday. With 10 points in 40 games, owners in most leagues should steer clear, especially given the injury.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Will be injured scratch Saturday
Bennett will not play Saturday night against the Flyers as he's dealing with a lower-body injury, Andrew Gross of The Record reports.
The report notes that Bennett is feeling the effects of blocking a shot in Friday night's game against the Habs. Luke Gazdic is likely to be in the starting lineup as a reinforcement option on the fourth line. Consider Bennett day-to-day ahead of Tuesday's home game versus the Kings.

Devils' Beau Bennett: Sees modest point streak end
Bennett was scoreless with two shots on goal in Friday's 3-1 loss against the Canadiens.
Bennett entered the game with a goal, assist and plus-2 over the past two outings, but he was unable to extend his modest streak. He is a light scorer who doesn't contribute positively in many scoring categories. Penalty minutes are the area he can help fantasy owners in the deepest of formats.
