Manny Malhotra: Looking to transition into coaching
Malhotra will hang up his skates in exchange for a clipboard, as he announced that he is retiring from professional hockey and looking to start coaching, Jeff Paterson of The Province reports.
Malhotra most recently played for AHL Lake Erie, but appeared in just 23 contests. Moving forward, the center will look to rejoin the Canucks organization as a coach instead. Selected seventh overall in the 1998 NHL Draft, the 36-year-old never quite lived up to expectations, with his best season coming in 2008-09 with the Blue Jackets (35 points and 28 PIM). Malhotra potted 116 goals in 991 career NHL games.
