Canadiens' Christian Folin: Returns to practice
Folin (undisclosed) skated with the team in Monday's training camp session, Eric Engels of Sportsnet.ca reports,
Folin was injured in the final game of the regular season before the league went on hiatus but appears to be ready for the postseason. In 16 games for the Habs this season, the 28-year-old blueliner managed just two points and 13 shots while averaging 14:26 of ice time. Given his limited offensive upside, and uncertainty to play every game, fantasy players will likely want to avoid Folin in both playoff pools and DFS contests.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Questionable for Thursday
Folin did not practice Wednesday and is questionable for Thursday's game against the Sabres, Stu Cowan of the Montreal Gazette reports.
The report doesn't provide details of the injury to Folin, who has played all nine games since returning from AHL Laval in mid-February. Karl Alzner is the likely fill-in if Folin is unavailable Thursday.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Promoted to top level
The Canadiens recalled Folin from AHL Laval on Wednesday.
Montreal traded Marco Scandella to the Blues on Tuesday, so Folin will likely stick with the big club for the remainder of the 2019-20 campaign. The 29-year-old won't, however, have any fantasy value as the Canadiens' seventh defenseman.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Demoted to AHL
The Canadiens reassigned Folin to AHL Laval on Monday.
Folin was a healthy scratch for five straight games, and with Shea Weber (foot) potentially returning Tuesday versus Detroit, Folin's services are no longer needed at the top level. The 29-year-old will enjoy more consistent playing time in the AHL.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Scratched Saturday
Folin was a healthy scratch for Saturday's game against Toronto.
Folin was replaced by Xavier Ouellet on the third pairing. Both defensemen were called up from AHL Laval this week, as the Canadiens are dealing with an injury to Shea Weber (lower body), while Victor Mete battles the flu bug. Mete has managed to play the last two games. If the Habs feel Mete's illness is no longer an issue, they may jettison Folin or Ouellet this week.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Scores first of season
Folin scored a goal on two shots and added three hits over 13:12 of ice time in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win over the Devils.
Folin, who was called up from AHL Laval on Monday as insurance, was needed when Victor Mete succumbed to the flu. The 28-year-old blueliner, playing an NHL game for the first time since Oct. 19, became an unlikely contributor from the third defensive pairing. His seeing-eye wrist shot was deflected by New Jersey's Travis Zajac to give Montreal its first lead of the night midway through the third period. Mete will have another day to recover before Thursday's game against Anaheim.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Jumps to big club
The Canadiens recalled Folin from AHL Laval on Monday.
Folin spent the first three months of the season with the big club but played just five games, recording an assist and 14 hits. He's been able to play more in the AHL, but his numbers aren't eye-popping there, either. He'll travel with the team to New Jersey on Tuesday, but barring an injury, he's not expected to slot in.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Waived by team
The Canadiens placed Folin on waivers Sunday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Folin had played just five games with the Canadiens this season, registering one assist, so this news isn't quite surprising. The 28-year-old seemed to fall out of favor with the Habs coaching staff, and will look to jump start his season in the minors, assuming he clears. He has 43 points in 233 career NHL games, so this news likely won't have a big impact from a fantasy perspective.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Returns from assignment
Folin was recalled from his conditioning assignment in the minors Wednesday.
Folin has logged seven games for AHL Laval in which he was held off the scoresheet and earned a minus-3 rating. The 28-year-old's performance is unlikely to instill confidence in the Habs coaching staff, so look for him to resume his spot in the press box, where he spent the previous 16 games prior to his assignment.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Sent on conditioning assignment
The Canadiens assigned Folin to AHL Laval for conditioning purposes Wednesday.
Folin has sat as a healthy scratch for 16 consecutive contests, so he'll head to the minors to play himself back into game shape after a lengthy layoff. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 28-year-old remain with Laval for the full two weeks that is permitted for conditioning assignments.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Sits for 14 straight
Folin was a healthy scratch for the 14th consecutive game Wednesday against Ottawa.
Folin last suited up Oct. 19 in a win over St. Louis and has been a healthy scratch for 17 of the Canadiens' first 22 games. Instead of the 28-year-old Folin, head coach Claude Julien has relied on younger blueliners, Cale Fleury (20 years old) and Brett Kulak (25), on the third defensive pairing. Folin has one assist and is plus-2 in five games played.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Makes season debut
Folin was a plus-1 with one shot, one hit and two blocked shots over 12:50 of ice time in Wednesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Sabres.
Folin and Mike Reilly made their season debuts Wednesday, replacing Cale Fleury and Brett Kulak on the third pairing. The duo did not make any glaring mistakes and was the lone pair of blueliners with a positive plus-minus, so expect the twosome to be in the lineup Thursday against the Red Wings.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Renews deal for one year
Folin agreed to a one-year, one-way contract extension with the Canadiens on Thursday.
Acquired in a four-player deal from Philadelphia in February, Folin has fit in well with Montreal, as he collected 65 hits to go along with 19 blocked shots and four points through 19 games in his new digs. He's never going to be an offensive dynamo, but every team needs those rugged stay-at-home types to provide the mortar to a goalie's wall in the cage -- for the Habs, that's Folin.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Collects third point
Folin had an even-strength assist and four shots in Tuesday's 8-1 win over the Red Wings.
Folin was able to move his point total up to an underwhelming three in 27 games this campaign. The 28-year-old has been a force on the defensive side, however, racking up 63 hits and 61 blocks. With scarce power-play time and low point totals, the defenseman is better left on the waiver wire.

Canadiens' Christian Folin: Flipped to Montreal
Folin was traded from the Flyers to the Canadiens -- along with Dale Weise -- for David Schlemko and Byron Froese on Saturday, Frank Seravalli of TSN.ca reports.
This move should give the Canadiens some extra depth on the blue line, and there's hope that Folin can start playing more regularly. The Swede only drew into 26 of a possible 54 games for the Flyers, adding a pair of helpers along the way. Even with the move, we can't see Folin earning 20-plus minutes with the Habs, therefore he can be left on the virtual waiver wire.

Flyers' Christian Folin: Sitting in press box
Folin has been a healthy scratch each of the last two games, which were both victories for the Flyers.
Philadelphia is on an eight-game winning streak, and while Folin has played in three of those contests, he has sat in the press box for the last two. Folin has gone long droughts without playing, and he has just two points -- both assists -- in 26 games this season. Only one of those assists have come in the last 24 contests. If he cracks the lineup again, Folin is only useful in the blocks and hits categories.

Flyers' Christian Folin: Playing more this month
Folin has played six games this month, posting zero points and a minus-3 rating.
The 27-year-old sat as a healthy scratch in 16 straight games from the end of November until New Year's Day, but he has received some playing time in January. However, he's been unable to take advantage of the opportunity, only posting statistics in the blocks and hits categories. Apparently the Flyers are turning elsewhere again, as Folin has been back in the press box the last two games. Don't be surprised if he doesn't play again for a while.

Flyers' Christian Folin: Still sitting as healthy scratch
Folin hasn't played since Nov. 24, as he's been a healthy scratch in each of the last 16 games.
A quarter of the season has nearly passed since the last time Folin played in a game. Over his last five games, he actually posted seven shots on goal. He also owns a plus-7 rating this season, but he has only one point, an assist, in 17 games. He's barely useful when he's playing, so with this extended time in the press box, Folin isn't worth monitoring in any fantasy leagues.

Flyers' Christian Folin: Continues to sit
Folin continues to be a healthy scratch, as he hasn't played in the last nine games.
It's only been one game, but a coaching change for the Flyers hasn't helped get Folin into the lineup either. It's almost been a month since he's dressed. He's actually contributed a plus-7 rating in 17 games, but other than that, he's fantasy irrelevant given his lone point.

Flyers' Christian Folin: Holds no fantasy value
Folin remains a healthy scratch, as he hasn't played in the last four games.
The Flyers haven't played much lately, so Folin actually hasn't dressed since two days after Thanksgiving. Prior to getting a press box seat, Folin hadn't scored in 15 straight games and posted a minus-2 rating in the last four contests. Even when in the lineup, Folin has virtually no fantasy value. His value is obviously nothing if he doesn't play.
