Dennis Rasmussen: Waived unconditionally
Rasmussen was placed on unconditional waivers by the Ducks on Monday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
If unclaimed, Rasmussen's contract will be terminated, which will free him up to either sign with another club or return to his native Sweden. The winger doesn't appear to want to stay in the minors any longer, instead preferring European competition. It seems unlikely the 27-year-old will get another shot in the NHL if he doesn't find a landing spot this time around.

Rasmussen was waived by the Ducks on Thursday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports.
The Ducks put Rasmussen in the press box for the past five games before rendering him fully expendable. The shutdown defenseman has only averaged 8:54 of ice time this season, which happens to be an extremely low amount for a player of his position. It's safe to leave him on the virtual waiver wire.

Rasmussen recorded an assist through just 8:20 of ice time during Friday's 4-2 loss to Columbus.
The 27-year-old forward has been a healthy scratch in two of the past four games and is averaging just 8:59 of ice time per contest for the campaign. Additionally, Rasmussen has recorded only nine goals and 21 points through 133 games over the past three years. As a result, he's off the fantasy radar in the majority of settings.

The Blackhawks didn't extend Rasmussen a qualifying offer, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Rasmussen will thus become an unrestricted free agent July 1, and it appears as though his time with the Blackhawks has almost certainly come to an end. This development comes as a bit of a surprise, as Chicago seemingly could've made use of the 26-year-old forward's versatility and penalty-killing ability next season. Rasmussen only tallied eight points (four goals, four assists) in 68 games with the 'Hawks last year, so he won't be a desirable option in season-long formats in 2017-18, regardless of where he ends up.

Blackhawks' Dennis Rasmussen: Making postseason debut Saturday
Rasmussen will make his first career postseason start in Game 2 against Nashville on Saturday, Tracey Myers of CSN Chicago reports.
Rasmussen recorded four goals, eight points, and averaged 11:50 of ice time in 68 games for Chicago this season. He also chipped in 61 hits and 49 blocked shots. Don't expect much offensively out of the big winger; he mainly plays a depth forward role.

At this time, it's not clear if the second-year winger will be a late addition to practice, but we wouldn't bet on that happening since he felt ill coming into Tuesday's contest against the Lightning -- he ended up logging 11:03 of ice time with three shots on goal, two hits and a blocked shot in that one, but the Blackhawks could always let him rest ahead of Thursday's clash with the Jets.

The 26-year-old just isn't seeing enough ice time to be considered a viable fantasy option in most formats at this point. Blackhawks' Dennis Rasmussen: Agrees to one-year contract extension
The Blackhawks agreed to terms with Rasmussen on a one-year contract Wednesday, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Rasmussen has played extensively in his native Sweden, but last year was his first taste of NHL action -- he produced four goals, five assists and a plus-9 rating in 44 games with the Blackhawks, and also was with minor-league affiliate Rockford for 25 contests. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound winger is tough to knock off the puck due to his size, plus he's known to work hard on both ends of the ice. Rasmussen is an organizational depth option at this juncture, but if he makes the team out of training camp, he should settle into a bottom-six role.

Blackhawks' Dennis Rasmussen: Headed back to Rockford
Rasmussen was sent back to AHL Rockford on Monday.
Considering the team's depth among their forwards, Rasmussen's demotion shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The 25-year-old Swede should receive ample playing time with the AHL club and some postseason experience along with it. He can safely be avoided in playoff pools.
