Tim Heed: Signs overseas contract
Heed agreed to terms on a contract with HC Lugano (NLA) through Nov. 15.
Heed will become an unrestricted free agent once the league season officially ends. His deal with Lugano will allow him to join up with another NHL club ahead of 2020-21 training camps, clearing the way for him to find a new home. The blueliner only logged 38 games with San Jose this year, notching one goal, four assists and 44 shots, so he may not have a lot of suitors.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Adds power-play helper
Heed notched a power-play assist in Thursday's 3-2 loss to the Wild.
Heed has picked up a goal and three helpers in his last eight outings, which accounts for all but one of his points through 35 games this season. The 29-year-old defenseman has added a modest 40 shots, 30 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating -- he's probably not worth a look in fantasy.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Gathers helper in 100th career game
Heed recorded an assist and two blocked shots in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Penguins.
Heed picked up his third point in his last eight outings, and his fourth of the year through 33 games. The 29-year-old defenseman has added 39 shots on goal, 28 blocks and a minus-6 rating this year. Saturday was also Heed's 100th career game. With the Sharks running thin on defense with Erik Karlsson (thumb) and Jacob Middleton (lower body) out, expect Heed to continue to see regular playing time.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Notches assist in loss
Heed recorded an assist, a shot on net and a blocked shot in Tuesday's 4-2 loss to the Flyers.
Heed was a regular in the press box before Erik Karlsson (finger) was ruled out for the season and Brenden Dillon was shipped to the nation's capital. Now, the 29-year-old Heed has played six straight games -- he hasn't even played two in a row since December -- and has carved out a role on the power play. In that stretch, the Swedish blueliner has put up two points despite averaging 15:35 of ice time per contest.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Returned to press box
Heed was scratched in Saturday's clash with Vancouver.
Heed saw a 10-game stint on the sidelines come to a close versus Colorado on Jan. 16, in which he logged just 12:28 of ice time, but was back up in the press box Saturday. Coming out of the All-Star break, the Swedish defender is unlikely to see much ice time and likely would need a player or two to pick up an injury in order to get into the lineup.

Sharks' Tim Heed: First helper of 2019-20
Heed posted an assist, a plus-2 rating, three hits and three blocked shots in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Oilers.
Heed's helper on Patrick Marleau's first-period goal was the former's first point of the season. Heed has managed 14 shots on goal, 10 hits and nine blocked shots in 13 appearances. He's a third-pairing defenseman at best and prone to being a healthy scratch at times.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Limited in return
Heed (upper body) fired a shot on goal in 8:51 in a 3-1 win over the Flames.
Heed missed four contests with the injury, and didn't see a lot of ice in his return. Coach Pete DeBoer typically leans heavily on his top-four defensemen, so Heed will typically only pick up a few minutes anyway. He's still looking for his first point of the season.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Back in lineup
Heed (upper body) will draw into the lineup for Sunday's game against Calgary, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
Heed has missed the last four games due to the upper-body injury, but will finally return to the lineup for the first time since Opening Night. The 28-year-old will replace Trevor Carrick in the lineup on the third defensive pair.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Dealing with upper-body issue
Heed (upper body) won't play in Tuesday's game versus the Predators, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
This isn't expected to be a long-term issue. Since Heed hasn't played since Oct. 2, the team may place him on injured reserve to free up a roster spot. If that happens, Heed would still be eligible to play Thursday versus the Blackhawks assuming he's healthy.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Re-ups with club
Heed earned a one-year, $960,000 contract with San Jose on Monday, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
Following the departure of Justin Braun via trade to Philadelphia, Heed finds himself with an opportunity to secure more minutes without having to relocate. The blueliner's deal is essentially a "prove-it" contract and gives him the opportunity to secure more term next summer with a solid 2019-20 campaign.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Generates assist
Heed collected an assist in 15:44 during Sunday's 5-3 loss to the Flames.
Heed is up to 13 points in 35 games this season with a plus-11 rating. His lack of physical play -- Heed has only 16 hits and 30 blocked shots this year -- suppresses the fantasy value for the third pairing defender.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Earns power-play helper
Heed picked up an assist with the man advantage in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Red Wings.
The assist set Heed's new career high in points at 12 (two goals, 10 helpers). His plus-12 rating is a nice bonus, but the production is still a low mark even for a blueliner, making Heed safe to avoid in fantasy circles.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Rakes in another helper
Heed picked up an assist and three shots on goal in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Panthers.
Heed has six assists in seven games in March, which is good production from the blue line. He matched his career high of 11 points with Thursday's helper, doing so in two fewer games than the 29 appearances it took him last year.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Posts pair of assists
Heed assisted on the Sharks' first two goals in a 5-2 win over the Blackhawks on Sunday.
Heed ended up with a plus-3 rating in the contest. For the season, the defenseman has eight points in 22 contests, five of which have come in his last five appearances. With only eight hits and 18 blocks this season, he doesn't do enough to generate fantasy interest in the vast majority of formats.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Cracks scoresheet versus Wings
Heed opened the scoring with his second goal of the season in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Red Wings.
The Sharks proceeded to yield three straight goals after Heed's opener, but a Joe Pavelski hat trick helped them keep pace in the Pacific. Heed went plus-3 and added four shots on goal in a game that pushed his point streak to three games. Heed has six points in 20 games this year, so the recent hot streak is a bit out of character for him. With only eight hits and 17 blocks this year, he doesn't typically contribute much in peripheral categories, either.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Dishes helper Thursday
Heed registered an assist and logged 17:33 of ice time during Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Capitals.
Heed now has helpers in back-to-back games, bringing him to one goal and five points in 19 contests. However, the 28-year-old defender will likely be scratched once Erik Karlsson (lower body) is eligible to return and therefore does not possess significant fantasy value at this time.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Ready to rock
Heed (undisclosed) will return to the lineup for Saturday's game against Tampa Bay, NHL.com reports.
Heed is expected to take on a prominent role Saturday, skating on the Sharks' third pairing and second power-play unit against the Lightning. The 27-year-old Swede has notched one goal in three appearances this season.

Sharks' Tim Heed: Will not play Wednesday
Heed (undisclosed) is not in the projected lineup for Wednesday's clash against the Avalanche.
Both Heed and rookie Radim Simek (concussion) will sit out in the upcoming contest. Heed showed promise offensively on the way to three goals and eight helpers over 29 games for the Sharks last season, but he's been a spare player in 2018-19. As much as we'd love to provide a timeline for the Swedish-born defenseman's return, Team Teal is holding such details close to its collective vest.
