P.A. Parenteau: Calls it a career
Parenteau officially announced his retirement Thursday, Brian Compton of NHL.com reports.
Parenteau posted 114 goals and 182 assists over 491 career contests between eight NHL teams, with his prime years spent with John Tavares and the Islanders from 2010-12. A winger with first-rate offensive instincts, Parenteau attempted to latch on with the Red Wings last season but was ultimately released from his PTO ahead of the 2017-18 campaign before taking his talents to the KHL.

P.A. Parenteau: Released from PTO
Parenteau was released from Detroit's training camp Sunday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
The veteran winger split time between New Jersey and Nashville a season ago, recording 13 goals and 28 points across 67 games. Parenteau's release comes as somewhat of a surprise, as he's proven to be a productive player and consummate professional over his 10-year NHL career, indicating that this move could be more about the Red Wings shifting toward a younger lineup rather than Parenteau's play. If this happens to be the case, expect the two-time 20-goal scorer to get another crack at making an NHL roster over the course of the 2017-18 campaign.

The journeyman missed Thursday's game against the Blackhawks as a result of the malady, but the man on the PTO seems to have a chance of drawing into Saturday's home clash with the Bruins since he's returned to the ice with the rest of the team.

Parenteau is trying to make the Red Wings squad after signing a professional tryout, but this injury could significantly impact his chances depending on how long he is expected to be out. The 34-year-old had a decent start to the 2016-17 campaign -- he logged 27 points in 59 outings -- but a trade-deadline move to Nashville didn't pan out, considering he logged just 13 appearances (including playoffs) and tallied a lone helper. If Parenteau does make Detroit's roster, it will likely be as a depth forward -- not the 60-plus-point producer he was early in his career.

Parenteau signed a professional tryout agreement with the Red Wings on Wednesday, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Parenteau is a talented veteran who simply fell victim to a deep offensive corps in Nashville, which led to him becoming a free agent this summer. The 34-year-old winger still notched 13 goals and 15 assists in 67 games last season as a bottom-six player. It comes down to whether Detroit feels it needs another veteran alongside Henrik Zetterberg to lead the young Red Wings through what is expected to be another rebuilding year. If they sign Parenteau to a deal for the 2017-18 season, expect him to play on the second or third line with power-play contributions.

Predators' P.A. Parenteau: Scratched from lineup Thursday
Parenteau will be a healthy scratch against Pittsburgh on Thursday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Parenteau saw just 6:45 of ice time in Game 4, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that he's being bounced in favor of a healthy Colin Wilson (undisclosed). Including the playoffs, the veteran has appeared in just 13 outings since joining Nashville at the trade deadline, garnering a single lonely assist.

Predators' P.A. Parenteau: Will be rolled out in Game 3
Parenteau will be in the lineup Saturday to face the Penguins for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
He's expected to replace Cody McLeod, who has picked up just one point -- a goal -- over 14 games this postseason, and is little more than a fourth-line energy cog. While Parenteau has much more offensive upside than McLeod, he hasn't played since the semifinals against the Ducks, so there's no telling what level of impact he'll have in this home tilt.

Predators' P.A. Parenteau: Back in lineup following finger injury
Parenteau was held pointless in Saturday's 2-1 regular-season finale against the Jets.
Parenteau has not had much of an impact for the Preds after being acquired from the Devils at the trade deadline, missing 11 of a possible 19 games due to a finger injury and registering just a single assist. That said, Saturday was Parenteau's third consecutive game back in the lineup, and he looks to be healthy as the Preds enter the playoffs as one of the Western Conference's two wild-card teams. With just five points in 15 career playoff games, Parenteau should not jump off the page as a top pick in most playoff formats, but could deliver some late-round value if the Preds manage to steal a round or two.

Predators' P.A. Parenteau: Scratched Monday
Parenteau served as a healthy scratch for Monday's game against the Coyotes.
The 33-year-old has been quiet since coming over in trade from New Jersey, failing to record a point while registering just four shots on goal in four games with his new club. Parenteau managed 13 goals and 14 assists to go with a dreadful minus-16 rating with the offensively challenged Devils, so there's a chance he could provide a savvy veteran scoring touch to the Preds' lineup down the stretch and into the playoffs. For now, however, he'll spend at least one game in the press box.

Predators' P.A. Parenteau: Debuts with Nashville on Saturday
Parenteau (finger) was on the ice for warmups and will play against the Sharks on Sunday, Adam Vingan of The Tennessean reports.
Parenteau will play his first game for Nashville since being traded from New Jersey. He has missed the past six games due to a finger injury. The 33-year-old winger has scored one goal and added four assists over his past five games, and this was all while averaging 12:40 of ice time. It'll be interesting to see where Parenteau fits in with the new club, but he is still of fantasy value in medium depth leagues.
