Sabres' Cody McCormick: Forced to retire due to blood clot
McCormick (blood clot) won't be playing in the NHL again, reports Mike Harrington of The Buffalo News.
After sitting out the entire season due to a blood clot issue, the Sabres announced that McCormick will retire from the NHL during Monday's exit interviews. The gritty, versatile forward had one year remaining on his three-year deal. The 32-year-old leaves the game with 65 points and 550 penalty minutes in 405 career games.

Sabres' Cody McCormick: Still no timetable for return
McCormick (blood clots), who is only taking light practice with teammates on the injured reserve, still has no timetable for return, reports The Buffalo News.
Pittsburgh's Pascal Dupuis' recent retirement and comments on not taking any further health risks due to blood clots is also weighing heavily on McCormick, as the report indicates. McCormick has not played since January and in the second season of his three-year deal.

McCormick (illness) was placed on IR Tuesday, John Vogl of the Buffalo News reports.McCormick was declared out indefinitely on Sept. 18 after failing his physical due to the presence of blood clots, an ailment that began last season and limited him to just 33 games in 2014-15. The Sabres didn't place McCormick on long-term IR, however, which is encouraging, as it indicates they may be expecting the 32-year-old winger to return to action sooner rather than later.
