Michalek was recalled from AHL Tucson on Sunday, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
Michalek hasn't played at the top level this season, but could make his season debut Monday or Tuesday should some additional depth along the blue line be required. However, he's still not a very appealing fantasy option.

Coyotes' Zbynek Michalek: Placed on waivers Monday
Michalek was waived by the team Monday, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports.
Michalek was a mainstay on the Coyotes' blue line last year, as he played 70 games while averaging over 17 minutes per night. Despite his opportunities, the defenseman garnered a paltry seven points and added just 20 PIM. If the 33-year-old is unclaimed, he will be reassigned to AHL Tucson, but may be on the short list for a call-up during the season.

Coyotes' Zbynek Michalek: Opens scoring against Team USA on Thursday
Michalek scored a goal in the Czech Republic's 4-3 victory over Team USA on Thursday.
Zbynek's younger brother Milan hogged most of the glory with a pair of goals in this game, but the veteran defenseman managed to get on the board first 12:44 into the first period. Don't expect him to contribute much offense with the Coyotes this season, though, as you have to go all the way back to 2008-09 to find a season in which the older Michalek scored more than five goals.

Coyotes' Zbynek Michalek: Back in action Wednesday
Michalek (upper body) will play Wednesday against the Canucks.
Michalek's availability shouldn't have any affect on fantasy owners' lineups, as the 33-year-old blueliner has tallied just six points (two goals, four assists) in 54 games this season. Michalek is expected to skate alongside Connor Murphy on the Coyotes' third pairing in Wednesday's contest.

Michalek is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury and will not dress Monday against the Avalanche, Sarah McLellan of the Arizona Republic reports.
While Michalek's absence will certainly impact the Coyotes, it won't make much of a ripple in the fantasy realm. The blueliner owns just six points through 54 games this season, averaging a paltry 16:32 over that frame. His biggest contribution comes in the form of blocked shots (96), but not enough to put him in consideration for the vast majority of season-long leagues, and his value remains minimal in daily contests as well. Michalek's next chance to return comes Wednesday against the Canucks, so check back before the game for another update on his status.

Coyotes' Zbynek Michalek: Returning to action Saturday
Michalek (lower body) will be in the lineup Saturday night against the Panthers, Craig Morgan of Arizona Sports reports.
Michalek missed Thursday's loss to Anaheim, a game in which the 'Yotes were manhandled by a potent Duck attack and surrendered five goals. Michalek is a clamp-down defender and that's exactly what his team needs after such an embarrassing loss. From a fantasy standpoint, he'll help most in leagues that count blocks -- Michalek is averaging 6.44 of those bad boys per 60 minutes this season.

Michalek missed practice on Thursday and was replaced by Jared Tinordi during line rushes. It's unclear as to the extent of Michalek's injury as he played more than 18 minutes on Monday, nearly two minutes more than his average ice time this season.

Michalek is questionable for Thursday's tilt with Anaheim. It's not clear what the blueliner is dealing with, as he logged 18:23 in Monday's game versus Pittsburgh. The veteran hasn't been a big producer this season, recording just six points in 53 games. Jared Tinordi skated in Michalek's normal spot on the second defensive pairing during Thursday's skate.
