Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Announces retirement
Sharp plans to retire following Saturday's season finale against the Jets, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Sharp has had an illustrious career, racking up 287 goals and 620 points in 938 career contests. He played an instrumental role in Chicago's championship runs in 2010, 2013 and 2015, and will retire in the city he's called home for 11 seasons.

Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Breaks point drought with helper
Sharp collected an even-strength assist and two PIM in Tuesday night's 5-2 road loss to Vegas.
That was Sharp's first point in the last nine games, as he continues to struggle in the reunion tour with the Blackhawks. While the power-play role remains, Sharp only has three points in that special teams situation, and he's only averaged 13:04 of ice time through 48 games. Of course, having matched his games-played total from last year is an accomplishment in itself, as he battled a myriad of issues in 2016-17. Sharp used to be a can't-miss fantasy commodity, but that ship sailed long ago.

Sharp contributed a goal and a power-play assist in Tuesday's 8-2 rout of the Senators.
Sharp was one of six Blackhawks to post multiple points in this one, led by Patrick Kane's five-point night. While the 36-year-old forward's best days are behind him, Sharp's three goals in the past four games suggest he's still a dangerous sniper.

Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Returns to top line
Sharp will rejoin the lineup for Saturday's game against the Devils, Mark Potash of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Sharp was given a night to clear his head Thursday against the Stars, but he will return as a member of the top line and is expected to skate alongside Jonathan Toews and Brandon Saad. Alex DeBrincat gets bumped out of the top-six forward group as a result of Sharp's return.

Sharp scored the opening goal of the game and garnered an assist against Anaheim on Monday.
Sharp's two-point performance ended a 16-game point drought that dated back to mid-October. The winger's struggles to produce saw his role on the power play drastically diminish to the point where he logged just 11 seconds of ice time with the man advantage Monday. Given the veteran's slow start, it's probably too early to say he has turned it around, but at least he is back on the scoresheet.

Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Struggling to produce
Sharp hasn't recorded a point in his last seven games.
The veteran forward is locked into a third-line role with the Blackhawks, but he's also averaging 3:24 on the man advantage per contest, so there's reason to believe his offensive numbers will only improve as the season progresses. Sharp has always been a streaky scorer, so if he's able to find the back of the net soon, he could embark on a multi-game point streak, which could enable his owners to cut bait and sell high. The 35-year-old Canadian's first chance to snap his scoreless streak will come Saturday against the Wild.

Sharp recorded a goal in Saturday's 2-1 overtime victory over Nashville.
The three-time Stanley Cup champ has enjoyed his return to the Blackhawks at this point, having already logged two goals and four points in six games after finishing with eight goals and 18 points in 48 games with Dallas a season ago. Sharp is no longer a top-six forward at this point in his career, but he will continue to contribute on the power play and provide some scoring depth for Chicago.

Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Gearing up for camp
Sharp (hip) has been skating with teammates and expects to be ready for the start of training camp Saturday, Mark Lazerus of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
The veteran winger returned to Chicago during the offseason after undergoing hip surgery in late March. A timetable for Sharp's recovery was never announced, so this news should come as reassurance for Blackhawks fans who are hoping to see the old "Sharpy" take to the United Center ice in 2017-18. Despite the fact that he'll be turning 36 in December, it's not unreasonable to expect a 20-goal, 40-point output from Sharp now that he's returned to a familiar setting and power-play setup.

Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Heading back to Chi-Town
Sharp (hip) will be reunited with the Blackhawks through free agency Saturday, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The move will be official when the signing period opens at noon ET.
Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman has an affinity for bringing back key players from the glory days -- for example, he's given defensemen Brian Campbell, Johnny Oduya and now forward Brandon Saad return tickets to the Windy City -- but it's hard to blame the guy for wanting a three-time Stanley Cup winner in Sharp back in tow. Sharp played for the Stars the past two seasons, and his debut campaign was strong at 55 points in 76 games, though he fell all the way to 18 points with a minus-22 rating in 2016-17; his most recent campaign was marred by two concussions and a bum hip that required surgery and ended his season in late March. Still, a return to Chicago -- even at a discount -- seems like the best possible setting for Sharp and his quest for a performance rebound. As a result, we wouldn't disregard him in fantasy drafts this fall.

Blackhawks' Patrick Sharp: Ink drying on one-year contract with Chicago
Sharp (hip) will make $1 million on the one-year deal that he signed to return with the Blackhawks in 2017-18, TSN reports.
According to CapFriendly, Sharp's contract will include $200,000 in performance bonuses if he reaches a certain amount of games played; considering that the veteran is recovering from hip surgery, that seems like a wise move for the cash-strapped Blackhawks. He can return the favor of returning to Chi-Town -- where he claimed three Stanley Cups -- by turning up numbers much closer to his debut season with the Stars -- 55 points in 2015-16 -- than his scant output of 18 points in 48 games last year.

Stars' Patrick Sharp: Could be taken by Vegas
Sharp (hip) was not included on the Stars' protected players list for the expansion draft.
Sharp played in just 48 games this year after suffering a pair of concussions and then undergoing season-ending hip surgery in March. While the winger did manage eight goals and 10 helpers, he also registered a minus-22 rating and saw the lowest average ice time of his career (15:57). The Golden Knights might not be the only club concerned about the veteran's injury history as he appears set to hit free agency on July 1.
