Senators' Clarke MacArthur: Focusing on golf
MacArthur played in a golf tournament in July and has reportedly retired from hockey, Spectrum News Rochester reports.
MacArthur never actually officially retired from the NHL, so it's still technically possible that he could come back, but odds are that the 33-year-old has decided not to take any more chances with his health after a long history of concussions. With that being the case, he obviously won't be a factor on fantasy rosters barring a massive change in his health diagnosis.

Senators' Clarke MacArthur: NHL career may be over
Senators GM Pierre Dorion told TSN 1200 that MacArthur, who's battled several neck and concussion injuries, may have played his last NHL game, Ken Warren of the Ottawa Citizen reports.
The GM used the words "highly doubtful" that MacArthur will be able to hit game ice in the NHL ever again. The scoring winger did make a courageous return in time for the tail end of the 2016-17 campaign, as well as the corresponding postseason, but he's appeared in only eight regular-season games the past two years. Assuming this is the last we see of MacArthur, he finishes with 304 points (133 goals, 171 assists) over 552 career contests.

Senators' Clarke MacArthur: Puts neck injury behind him
MacArthur (neck) was invited to the Senators' training camp, with physical fitness testing set to commence Thursday morning.
MacArthur's battle with concussions has been well documented, but it was never clear whether his neck injury from May was directly linked to that serious condition. The Alberta native managed to appear in 19 playoff contests this past spring, but it's worth noting that he has played in all 82 regular-season games just once over his 11-year NHL career; he remains quite the dice roll in fantasy as a result.

Senators' Clarke MacArthur: Fails medical
MacArthur (neck) appeared to be over his injury woes heading in to 2017-18, but he failed his medical Thursday.
MacArthur has a well-documented history of concussions, which have limited him to just four regular season games in each of the last two campaigns. When MacArthur suffered the neck injury in the 2017 postseason, the team said it was not concussion-related, but there's a possibility that there were further effects as time progressed. Ottawa hasn't given any information as to MacArthur's timeline for recovery, but the team should release additional updates as they become available.

It is unclear if MacArthur's neck injury is related to the concussions that kept him out for all but the final four games of the regular season. With Ottawa down 3-0, MacArthur scored an important goal to keep the Senators within striking distance in Game 4. The final score was 3-2, and the comeback fell short, but it wasn't a cakewalk for the Penguins. While this was just the third goal of the playoffs for MacArthur, he's registered six points and 13 shots through his past six games. The veteran winger is playing well for Ottawa and is worth considering in daily contests while moving the offensive needle.

The veteran winger helped Ottawa grab a two-goal lead in the opening frame, and the Senators never looked back. MacArthur didn't make a significant impact on the series until the past two games, but his four assists in Games 5 and 6 were critical to eliminating the Rangers. After playing just eight regular-season games over the past two seasons, MacArthur's return is a feel-good story, and his recent uptick in production has been a huge boost for Ottawa.

MacArthur scored the game-winning goal in overtime of Game 6 versus the Bruins on Sunday. The Senators won the game 3-2 and the series 4-2.
One of the unlikeliest of heroes, MacArthur scored his first goal in two years last week. His second of the series advanced Ottawa into the second round. MacArthur, who missed most of this season with a concussion, is clearly finding his game again. If there's any fantasy value to be had, it might be on the power play. Both of MacArthur's goals in the series came on the man advantage.

This is a big test for MacArthur as he hits game ice for the first time since Oct. 14, 2015, when he sustained a concussion just four games into the regular season. He's been through the proverbial gauntlet trying to make his return, but even when he does suit up, don't expect a whole lot of minutes from the winger. Hopefully all goes well for MacArthur -- who turns 32 years old Thursday -- so that he isn't forced to retire prematurely.

MacArthur (concussion) continues to feel good as he makes his way back from a concussion and feels he could contribute right now, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun reports.
MacArthur wants to know before leaving for the summer whether it's worth it for him to come back to training camp in the fall, so he's hopeful of taking the baseline test again to see where he is in terms of progress from concussion. He's suffered multiple brain injuries over his career, and it's possible he could call it quits if not enough progress has been made. MacArthur is a guy with plenty left in the tank physically, but his history of concussions makes his hockey future rather murky.

MacArthur sustained his fourth concussion in the past 18 months in training camp, and the obvious concern is that the post-concussion syndrome could affect him for the rest of his career and in everyday life. It's a sad development, but as much as the Senators would like to have the top-six forward in the lineup, keeping him away from the intense grind of hockey seems like a wise choice at this juncture.

Senators' Clarke MacArthur: Resumes skating Saturday
MacArthur (concussion) did some skating Saturday, but the Senators have no timetable for his return, Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Citizen reports. "We're trying to move onto the next step and it's just the beginning so there's nothing new" coach Guy Boucher said.
MacArthur is believed to have underwent a baseline test Friday to determine the next step in his recovery process from post-concussion syndrome, but the Senators haven't provided any confirmation on that matter, nor have they outlined a rehab plan for the winger. He hasn't appeared in a game since Oct. 14, 2015 and likely still remains at least another week away from a return, even if he's able to resume practicing in the next few days.
