Rich Clune: Announces retirement
Clune will hang up his skates and join the Maple Leafs' Department of Player Development, the team announced Thursday.

In those appearances, the veteran winger garnered seven goals, 15 helpers and 327 PIM while averaging 8:35 of ice time.

Maple Leafs' Rich Clune: Sent down to minors Wednesday
Clune was reassigned to AHL Toronto on Wednesday.
Clune, a vigorous agitator, gives way to Sam Carrick, who has been called up to the parent club ahead of Wednesday's road match against the Blue Jackets. The 28-year-old Clune will never be much of a scoring threat in the NHL, though he does help in leagues that give out points for time spent in the penalty box. In 139 career games, Clune's racked up 327 PIM.

Maple Leafs' Rich Clune: Recalled by Maple Leafs Sunday
Clune was recalled by the Maple Leafs on Sunday, James Mirtle of The Globe and Mail reports.

Maple Leafs' Rich Clune: "Loaned" to AHL team
Clune has been "loaned" to the AHL Marlies.
Clune is a hard-working, energy guy who hasn't scored a goal at the NHL level since 2013-14. Now, he hasn't had a lot of NHL ice time since then -- just 19 games. But his value lies in his ability to hit, not score, so his fantasy value is restricted anyway. Transactionally, we don't know what this "loan" means -- does it protect him from passing through waivers or not? The trade deadline is approaching and while he's not likely to be used as bait, the Leafs may want to hold onto him and spot him back in as a warm body after they clean house.

Clune will get a chance to rejoin the roster due to a plethora of injuries among the Maple Leafs forwards. The 28-year-old Toronto native didn't notch any points in 10 games with the club earlier in the season, but was slotted in on the fourth forward line during Monday's practice, and will likely play on that line in Tuesday's contest against the Flames.

Maple Leafs' Rich Clune: Reassigned Friday
Clune was reassigned to AHL Toronto on Friday, Jonas Siegel of The Canadian Press reports.
Clune suited up in the Leafs' last eight contests, and was effective in his fourth-line role, recording 11 penalty minutes and 27 hits. However, Clune put just three shots on goal in those eight games, and it looks as though head coach Mike Babcock will turn to Brad Boyes in an attempt to provide the Leafs' lineup with some more offense.
