Australian breaker Rachel Gunn, otherwise known as B-girl Raygun, continues to sit atop the sport's latest world rankings despite her infamous performance at the 2024 Paris Olympics. On Tuesday, breaking's governing body, the World DanceSport Federation, provided some clarification on why Raygun still appears at the top of the rankings.

Raygun, 37, didn't scored a single point while competing at the Summer Games this past summer. Still, the World DanceSport Federation stated the rankings are based on each athlete's top four performance over the last 12 months. However, Olympic events, including the 2024 Paris Olympics and Olympic qualifying events, are stricken from the record.

There haven't been any ranking events between December 2023 and the Paris Olympics so that breakers could focus on the qualification process for the Olympics.

The WDSF also revealed that many breakers were ranked based on just one event. Raygun finished in first place at the Oceania continental championships in October 2023, which netted her 1,000 points.

"Speaking of the WDSF, they actually don't have any real merit with the breakers or the breaking community," Breaking for Gold USA vice president Zack Slusser told ESPN. "And they also haven't been able to organize events by their measure that would contribute to creating an accurate world ranking."

The WDSF will alter the rankings when more events take place. That will begin with the Breaking for Gold World Series, which will be held in Shanghai next month.
