Alexander Volkanovski, an Australian fighter, returns to his home country for his first title defense of his second reign as the featherweight champion. Volkanovski held the title from December 2019 to February 2024 with five successful defenses. But now at age 37, a prolonged run like that is unlikely. But he'll have the crowd behind him on Saturday against Diego Lopes, the No. 2-ranked featherweight from Brazil. Lopes, 31, is 27-7 all-time and 6-2 in the UFC. Volkanovski is 27-4 over his career, with three of those losses coming over his last five fights, including two bouts for the lightweight title against Islam Makhachev. Volkanovski lost the belt to Ilia Topuria at UFC 298 in Feb. 2024. Topuria then vacated the title to compete in the lightweight division. 

The five-fight main card includes a pair of lightweight contests with top-15-ranked fighters. No. 6 Dan Hooker (24-13) fights No. 8 Benoit Saint-Denis (16-3) in the co-main event. Hooker, 35, is one of the most experienced fighters in the UFC, but he's coming off a submission loss to Arman Tsarukyan in November. Saint-Denis has won three straight fights, and none of his last 10 fights went the distance. He went 8-2 in those bouts. Saint-Denis is a -390 favorite. Before them, No. 9 Rafael Fiziev (13-4) takes on No. 15 Mauricio Ruffy (12-2) as a -124 favorite.

For UFC betting on Paramount+, Volkanovski is the -142 favorite, with Lopes at +120 odds in the latest Volkanovski vs. Lopes odds at DraftKings Sportsbook.
