  • Giants' Ryan Walker: Scoreless outing Friday

Walker struck out one in a scoreless inning during Friday's 5-1 loss to the Cubs.

Walker was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday and immediately made an appearance for San Francisco. The right-hander posted a 6.46 ERA and 1.89 WHIP in 15.1 innings before being optioned to Sacramento on May 10, though he was productive in his return to the big leagues. Walker threw 12 of his 16 pitches for strikes and will attempt to build on the performance in hopes of earning more high-leverage opportunities moving forward.

  • Giants' Reggie Crawford: Begins rehab assignment Friday

Crawford (shoulder) started at designated hitter and went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Friday's 7-2 win over the ACL D-Backs in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League.

Crawford was initially developed as a two-way player before transitioning to full-time pitching in 2024. He eventually progressed to Triple-A Sacramento but underwent surgery in September 2024 to repair the labrum in his left shoulder. The southpaw later experienced a setback after advancing to bullpen sessions last September and required another surgery, though he returned to action in Arionza on Friday and launched a solo shot in the fifth inning.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Keeps power surge going

Eldridge went 3-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Cubs.

Eldridge had all but one of the Giants' hits in the contest. His ninth-inning homer kept them from getting shut out, but that was about the only positive for the home team to take from this game. That's now three straight games with a homer and four straight with an extra-base hit for Eldridge. He is batting .425 (17-for-40) in June, and that's after he ended May with a four-hit game. Overall, he's hitting .316 with a .959 OPS, five homers, 13 RBI, 18 runs scored and nine doubles across 29 contests, with his recent surge making it tough to see him coming out of the lineup for anything other than rest any time soon.

  • Giants' Landen Roupp: Chased in fifth inning

Roupp (5-7) allowed four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five over 4.2 innings to take the loss versus the Cubs on Friday.

Roupp got through the order once without much trouble, but the Cubs started to get to him in the fourth inning. He left two runners on base when he exited in the fifth inning, and reliever Erik Miller let both of them score after Michael Busch went deep. Roupp has allowed at least four runs in five of his eight starts since the beginning of May, and he's gone 0-6 in that span after starting the year pretty well. The right-hander has a 4.24 ERA, 1.29 WHIP and 82:32 K:BB through 74.1 innings over 14 starts this season. The strikeout potential remains tempting, but his inconsistency makes Roupp tough to trust. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Atlanta, which is a very challenging matchup.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Back in lineup Friday

Adames (lower body) will start at shortstop and bat sixth Friday against the Cubs, Evan Webeck of the California Post reports.

Adames sat out the Giants' last game Wednesday due to pain in his lower half, but he's been cleared to return to action for Friday's series opener against the Cubs. The 30-year-old backstop has slugged three home runs in nine games since the start of June but is 0-for-17 with nine strikeouts in his last four contests.

  • Giants' Ryan Walker: Back in majors

The Giants recalled Walker from Triple-A Sacramento on Friday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Walker began the season as the Giants' de facto closer but was demoted to Sacramento just over a month ago after posting a 6.46 ERA and 14:10 K:BB over 15.1 innings. He seemed to get back on track at Sacramento, permitting two runs with a 7:3 K:BB across 9.1 frames. No one has taken hold of the Giants' closer job since Walker was optioned, so he could push his way back into the late-inning mix. Initially, however, the club is likely to ease him in with some low-leverage outings.

  • Giants' Carson Seymour: Dispatched back to Triple-A

The Giants optioned Seymour to Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday.

Seymour was tagged for four runs over 1.1 innings in a relief outing Wednesday versus the Nationals. He will likely rejoin the rotation at Sacramento. The Giants will announce a corresponding roster move prior to Friday's contest against the Cubs.

  • Giants' Rafael Devers: Launches solo shot in win

Devers went 1-for-4 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Nationals.

After going 0-for-11 in 14 plate appearances over his previous three games, Devers launched a home run to center field in the eighth inning and drew a walk in the ninth before coming around to score. The veteran infielder has struggled through 10 outings this month, batting .122 with seven runs scored, three RBI and two home runs across 48 plate appearances. Overall, he's slashing .233/.292/.415 with 33 runs scored, 33 RBI and nine long balls in 295 plate appearances this season.

  • Giants' Bryce Eldridge: Walks it off with grand slam

Eldridge went 1-for-4 with a walk, a grand slam and a second run scored in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Nationals.

Per Maria Guardado of MLB.com, the 21-year-old slugger's blast put him in the record books as the youngest player in history to hit a walk-off grand slam, breaking a mark that had been held by Hall of Famer Roberto Clemente since 1956. Eldridge has caught fire and bashed his way into an everyday role over the last couple weeks, slashing .426/.500/.766 across his last 13 games with seven doubles, three homers, 10 RBI and 15 runs.

  • Giants' Matt Chapman: Goes yard twice in comeback win

Chapman went 4-for-5 with a double, two home runs, an additional run scored and three total RBI in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Nationals.

The veteran third baseman launched solo shots off Foster Griffin in the sixth inning and Paxton Schultz to lead off the eighth, with the latter blast sparking a stunning rally from an eight-run deficit for the Giants. Chapman's bat has heated up with the weather, and while he has just six homers on the season, five of them have come in June. He's slashing a massive .469/.548/1.000 to begin the month, with 18 RBI in only 10 games.

  • Giants' Robbie Ray: Escapes with no-decision

Ray didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 11-10 win over the Nationals, giving up five runs on seven hits over 5.2 innings. He struck out three without walking a batter.

A two-run homer by James Wood in the third inning was the only extra-base hit off Ray, but the veteran lefty unraveled in the top of the sixth as Washington strung together five two-out singles, with three steals mixed in. Ray was taken off the hook for his seventh loss of the year when the Giants erased an eight-run deficit over the final two frames, however. It's the third time in his last five outings that he's been tagged for at least four runs, a stretch in which he's been saddled with a 7.43 ERA, 1.87 WHIP and 17:16 K:BB in 23 innings. Ray could have a hard time righting the ship in his next start, which is set to come on the road next week in Atlanta.

  • Giants' Reiver Sanmartin: Ready for team debut

The Giants reinstated Sanmartin (hip) from the 60-day injured list Wednesday.

A waiver pickup from the Reds back in November, Sanmartin ended up having his Giants debut delayed several months after suffering a significant right hip flexor strain back in spring training. The 30-year-old lefty was cleared to begin a minor-league rehab assignment in mid-May and compiled a 2.79 ERA, 0.72 WHIP and 10:1 K:BB across 9.2 innings over nine appearances between the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and Triple-A Sacramento to convince the Giants he was ready to join the big-league bullpen. He's likely to be deployed in middle relief initially.

  • Giants' Tristan Beck: Sent back to minors

The Giants optioned Beck to Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday.

The right-hander tossed two innings and 27 pitches in relief during Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Nationals, so he might not have been available for Wednesday's series finale. As a result of his recent usage along with the fact that he had a minor-league option remaining, Beck ended up giving his spot in the bullpen and on the active roster to Reiver Sanmartin (hip), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list.

  • Giants' Will Brennan: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Giants designated Brennan for assignment Wednesday.

Brennan will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to left-hander Reiver Sanmartin (hip), who was reinstated from the 60-day injured list. The 28-year-old Brennan had produced a healthy .869 OPS over 117 plate appearances at Triple-A Sacramento in 2026, but he's had far less success over parts of five major-league seasons between stops with the Guardians and Giants, slashing just .263/.301/.365 (86 wRC+).

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Nursing lower-half injury

Giants manager Tony Vitello said that Adames is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals after experiencing some lower-half pain from his "knee to hip" during Tuesday's 6-3 loss, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Despite dealing with some discomfort, Adames still played the full nine innings Tuesday, finishing 0-for-4 with a walk. The veteran shortstop will hit the bench for just the second time all season Wednesday, but Vitello indicated that Adames shouldn't be headed for any further absences. The Giants are hoping that getting a game off from starting coupled with Thursday's off day will provide enough time for Adames to recover from the issue and rejoin the lineup Friday versus the Cubs.

  • Giants' Willy Adames: Rare day off

Adames is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nationals.

Adames will get just his second day off of the season and first since April after going 0-for-17 with a 1:9 BB:K over his last four contests. Casey Schmitt will fill in at shortstop for the Giants while Adames gets a breather.
