Canucks' Nils Hoglander: Could return next week
Head coach Adam Foote said Thursday that Hoglander (lower body) could return for the Canucks' game against the Sabres on Dec. 11, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
Hoglander has been sidelined since the start of the regular season due to his lower-body injury, but he recently began traveling with the team and appears to be closing in on a return. He made 72 regular-season appearances for the Canucks last year, logging eight goals, 17 assists, 76 hits, 23 blocked shots and 30 PIM while averaging 12:08 of ice time.

Canucks' Thatcher Demko: Might return next week
Demko (lower body) might be available to play at home against Buffalo on Dec. 11, per Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 on Thursday.
Demko is expected to miss Vancouver's next three games before that matchup against the Sabres. He's 5-4-0 with a 2.80 GAA and a .903 save percentage in 10 appearances this season. While Demko is on injured reserve, Kevin Lankinen is likely to continue to act as the Canucks' starter while Nikita Tolopilo is the No. 2 option.

Canucks' Conor Garland: Practices in non-contact jersey
Garland (upper body) participated in Thursday's practice session in a non-contact jersey, Brendan Batchelor of Sportsnet 650 reports.
Garland has missed the last two games due to his upper-body injury, but it was encouraging to see him back on the ice at practice Thursday, even if he participated in a limited capacity. It's not yet clear whether he'll be available for Friday's game against Utah or Saturday's game against Minnesota.

Canucks' Pierre-Olivier Joseph: Misses practice Thursday
Joseph (flu) missed practice Thursday, Jeff Paterson of CanucksArmy.com reports.
Joseph should be considered questionable ahead of Friday's tilt in Utah. The 26-year-old blueliner has one assist in 11 games this season. The Canucks recalled defenseman Elias Pettersson from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday in case Joseph is unable to play.

Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Back in bigs
Pettersson was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Thursday,
Pettersson was demoted Wednesday in what was likely a paper move, as the Canucks have only six healthy defensemen with Pettersson in the lineup. He has one goal, four assists and 42 blocked shots over 27 contests this season.

Canucks' Nikita Tolopilo: Called up Thursday
Tolopilo was recalled from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions Thursday.
Tolopilo was designated as non-roster Monday while tending to a personal matter, but he was activated Wednesday and will join the NHL club a day later. Tolopilo should serve as Kevin Lankinen's backup during his time with Vancouver. Tolopilo has made two starts for Vancouver this year, going 1-1-0 with a 3.56 GAA and .892 save percentage.

Canucks' Jiri Patera: Sent to AHL
Patera was assigned to AHL Abbotsford on Thursday.
Patera was called up by Vancouver on Monday, but he didn't make any appearances during his stint with the NHL club. He should see more consistent playing time in the minors, while Nikita Tolopilo was called up Thursday to provide additional depth behind Kevin Lankinen for Vancouver.

Canucks' Elias Pettersson: Heads to minors
Pettersson was sent to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.
Pettersson has two assists, eight PIM, 32 hits and 33 blocks in 24 NHL outings this season. His reassignment brings Vancouver down to six healthy defensemen, which might prompt a call-up before Friday's clash against Utah.

Canucks' Nikita Tolopilo: Will report to AHL squad
Tolopilo (personal) was removed from the non-roster list and reassigned to AHL Abbotsford on Wednesday.
Tolopilo has posted a 1-1-0 record while stopping 58 of 65 shots (.892 save percentage) across two appearances with Vancouver this season. The 25-year-old netminder also has a 3.35 GAA and a .901 save percentage in five outings with Abbotsford this season.

Canucks' Evander Kane: Takes skate cut late in game
Kane sustained a laceration to his forearm late in the third period of Tuesday's game versus the Avalanche, but the injury is not expected to be significant, Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet reports.
Kane was cut by a skate, but head coach Adam Foote wasn't overly concerned after the contest. Kane can be considered day-to-day for now, but it's possible he'll be able to play Friday versus the Mammoth.

Canucks' Aatu Raty: Snags helper Tuesday
Raty produced an assist and two hits in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Raty ended his nine-game slump with the helper. The 23-year-old forward was also scratched once in that span, but he's seeing fairly steady time in a fourth-line role. He's now at one goal, six assists, 18 shots on net, 56 hits, 14 PIM and a plus-1 rating over 24 appearances.

Canucks' Arshdeep Bains: Breaks slump with helper
Bains logged an assist and added two hits in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Bains snapped a seven-game slump with the helper. He was also scratched five times in that span, but the injury to Conor Garland (upper body) has opened the door for Bains to play regularly again. For the season, Bains is at four helpers, 20 hits, 10 PIM and a minus-1 rating over 22 appearances in a fourth-line role.

Canucks' Linus Karlsson: Scores early in loss
Karlsson scored a goal on two shots and added two hits in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Karlsson scored 2:55 into the game, but that was the extent of the Canucks' offense. The 26-year-old continues to impress -- he has four goals over his last eight games, and he earned an in-game promotion to the top six Tuesday, though it's unclear if that will last for another contest. For the season, the Swede is up to five goals, nine points, 38 shots on net, 27 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-3 rating over 24 appearances. He is likely to maintain a full-time role as long as the Canucks are still dealing with multiple injuries to forwards.

Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Gets little help in loss
Lankinen stopped 28 of 31 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Avalanche.
Given the quality of the opponent, this was a decent performance for Lankinen. The Canucks scored once early in the first period, but they generated just 22 shots on net in total and couldn't cash in again. The 30-year-old netminder has lost four straight games (0-3-1), but he's been a little better in his two most recent losses with five goals allowed on 54 shots in that span. For the season, Lankinen is at a 4-8-3 record with a 3.48 GAA and an .883 save percentage over 15 appearances. The Canucks have a home back-to-back up next, as they'll host the Mammoth on Friday and the Wild on Saturday. Lankinen should get one of those games, while Nikita Tolopilo (personal) or Jiri Patera would be in line for the other.

Canucks' Kevin Lankinen: Facing Avalanche
Lankinen will guard the road goal against Colorado on Tuesday, Bailey Curtis of DNVR Sports reports.
Lankinen is coming off a 21-save effort in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Kings. He has a 4-7-3 record this season with a 3.50 GAA and an .881 save percentage through 14 appearances. Colorado ranks first in the league with 4.12 goals per game this campaign.

Canucks' Conor Garland: Won't play Tuesday
Garland (upper body) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Avalanche, Iain MacIntyre of Sportsnet reports.
Garland will miss a second consecutive game Tuesday, and he's heading back to Vancouver ahead of the matchup to be further evaluated. It's not yet clear when he'll be able to return, but Jonathan Lekkerimaki will likely continue to see playing time while Garland is sidelined.

Canucks' Nikita Tolopilo: Lands on non-roster list
Tolopilo (personal) was given non-roster status Monday.
In a corresponding move, Vancouver recalled Jiri Patera from AHL Abbotsford under emergency conditions. It's unclear when Tolopilo will be available to return to the lineup. With Thatcher Demko (lower body) unavailable as well, Patera will probably be Kevin Lankinen's backup in Tuesday's road game against Colorado.
