PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Rodney Bullock scored 26 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Providence to a 75-69 win over Massachusetts on Saturday.
Emmitt Holt added 18 points and Kyron Cartwright matched his career high with 12 assists for the Friars (8-2), who have won four straight.
Rashan Holloway had 21 points and nine rebounds for the Minutemen (6-3) and Luwane Pipkins hit six 3-pointers and scored 20 points.
Providence pushed a 29-28 halftime lead to a 16-point advantage midway through the second half, turning nine straight points into a 14-2 run. Trailing 58-42 with 9:26 to play, UMass chipped away and cut the deficit to 66-63 on two Holloway free throws at the 2:09 mark.
Holt answered with four straight points and in the final minute, Bullock made four free throws.
Bullock had 18 points in the second half, hitting all six of his free throws, but the Friars were just 12 of 20 from the line and 19 of 32 overall. UMass made just 9 of 18 free throws.
