DOVER, Del. (AP) DeAndre Haywood scored 20 points, DeVaughn Mallory had a double-double and Delaware State beat Howard 66-56 in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference regular season finale on Thursday night.

Haywood made five field goals and was 8 of 10 from the line, and Mallory scored 10 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Kavon Waller added 13 points and Devin Morgan had 12 for Delaware State.

Solomon Mangham scored 18 points, all on 6-of-13 shooting from 3-point range, to lead Howard. James Miller chipped in 16 points.

The Hornets used a 15-6 spurt to pull away with a 56-46 lead with four minutes left. Haywood made two free throws and a 3-pointer during the stretch.

Delaware State (10-21, 7-9) snapped a three-game losing skid. Howard (8-23, 5-11) has lost three of its last four games. The conference tournament begins Monday at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
