HAMPTON, Va. (AP) Trevond Barnes scored the final points of the game with 27 seconds remaining to give Hampton a 66-65 edge over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Wednesday night.

Hampton trailed 65-64 with 27 seconds to go when Barnes - who scored 10 points overall - got the assist from Jermaine Marrow and sank a jumper to give the Pirates (8-13, 5-3 MEAC) a one-point lead. The Hawks (7-16, 4-4) missed two shots after that and Hampton held on for the win.

Marrow finished with 20 points and five assists and Kalin Fisher had 13 points and six rebounds.

The Pirates trailed 33-28 at the break but a pair of 3-pointers by Marrow early in the second half helped Hampton stay close and another by Lawrence Cooks cut it to 51-50 with 7:24 to play. Marrow hit his third 3-pointer to even it at 55 with 6:21 left.

Bakari Copeland scored 17 points to lead the Hawks.
