Rogers scores 28, American knocks off NJIT 87-73
WASHINGTON (AP) Matt Rogers had 28 points in American's 87-73 win against NJIT on Thursday night.
Rogers added 11 rebounds and three blocks for the Eagles (2-2). Elijah Stephens added 11 points while going 3 of 6 and 3 of 4 from the free throw line, and he also had eight assists. Colin Smalls shot 4 for 10, including 2 for 7 from beyond the arc to finish with 11 points.
Mekhi Gray led the Highlanders (0-3) in scoring, finishing with 18 points and six rebounds. Sebastian Robinson added 15 points and six assists for NJIT. Tariq Francis also had 13 points and three steals.
