Rockets' Jock Landale: Expected to play Wednesday
Landale (shoulder) is listed as probable for Wednesday's game versus the Clippers.
Landale strained his shoulder during Sunday's game against Houston. While results from the MRI the 29-year-old big man was set to undergo have yet to be released, it appears he has avoided a serious injury. With Steven Adams (knee) deemed questionable against the Clippers, Landale could operate as the team's backup center behind Alperen Sengun.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Undergoing MRI
Head coach Ime Udoke said Monday that Landale will get an MRI done on his left shoulder, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.
Landale strained his left shoulder during the Rockets' 101-99 win over the Pistons on Sunday, and he finished that game with three points and five rebounds over 17 minutes. He's already been ruled out for Monday's game against the Wizards, and the results of the MRI will indicate the severity of Landale's injury. If Steven Adams (knee) is also sidelined for Monday's game, Jabari Smith will likely see some playing time at center while Alperen Sengun is resting.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Out with shoulder strain
Landale has been ruled out for Monday's game against Washington due to a left shoulder strain.
Landale will miss the second night of a back-to-back set after posting three points and five rebounds in 17 minutes during Sunday's 101-99 win over the Pistons. Steven Adams (knee) is questionable, so if both backup bigs are sidelined, the Rockets will likely have to go small with their second unit against the Wizards.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Not on injury report
Landale is not on the injury report for Monday's game against the Knicks.
Landale suffered an elbow issue during the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Warriors, but it's a good sign that he's not on the injury report at all. If Steven Adams (knee) is cleared to play Monday from his questionable tag, Landale won't be a lock to see the floor.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Leaves game with elbow injury
Landale went back to the locker room during the second quarter of Saturday's game against the Warriors due to an elbow injury, Adam Spolane of Sports Radio 610 Houston reports.
Landale was replaced by Jabari Smith early in the second quarter, and the former left for the locker room after being checked on by trainers on the bench. With Steven Adams (knee) not playing Saturday, the Rockets will have to heavily lean on Smith and Alperen Sengun at center for as long as Landale is sidelined, though Jeff Green could also see some playing time off the bench.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Won't play Thursday
Landale (rest) will be inactive for Thursday's preseason finale against San Antonio, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Landale will represent the team's only healthy scratch Thursday as Houston continues ramping up for Wednesday's regular-season opener against Charlotte. Landale "has taken a few bangs in training camp," per Lerner, hence the lightened workload.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Leads team in scoring
Landale tallied 17 points (7-10 FG, 3-8 FT), eight rebounds, two steals and one assist in 28 minutes for Australia during Friday's 77-71 loss to Greece in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Despite recording five offensive rebounds, Landale came up short of a double-double during Friday's loss. The 28-year-old big man has cemented himself as Australia's top option at center and had his way inside against Greece, drawing five fouls.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Team-high 20 points in win
Landale accumulated 20 points (9-14 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), nine rebounds, five assists and one steal across 28 minutes in Australia's 92-80 win over Spain in the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
Landale was stellar Saturday as he led the Boomers in both points and rebounds while shooting the ball at an efficient rate. The 28-year-old will be tasked with going up against some of the best big men in the world, so he will play an important role in Australia's success with remaining games against Canada and Greece in the group phase.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Posts 20 points in starting role
Landale closed Friday's 116-107 win over the Trail Blazers with 20 points (8-13 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 32 minutes.
The Rockets experimented with a smaller lineup during Portland's win over Utah, but they brought size back into the frontcourt with Landale against the Trail Blazers, presumably to contain Deandre Ayton (back). Landale was effective against Portland's alternate options after Ayton exited early. Now with his third team in three seasons, Landale is projected to stay trapped behind Alperen Sengun next season, but the 6-foot-11 center could see more time in frontcourt injury scenarios.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Joins first unit
Landale will start Friday's game against Portland, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Fred VanVleet (hip) is sitting out, so the Rockets will slide everyone else down a position in what will be a bigger lineup. This will allow Landale to match up with Portland's Deandre Ayton.

Rockets' Jock Landale: Leads bench in scoring Sunday
Landale totaled 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-6 FT), one rebound, two assists and one steal across 16 minutes during Sunday's 147-136 overtime loss to the Mavericks.
Landale reached double-digit scoring for the second straight game Sunday. He has provided solid backup minutes at center behind Jabari Smith since the injury to Alperen Sengun (ankle) in March. The Rockets were eliminated from playoff contention following Sunday's loss, so Landale could see some additional playing time during the last week of the regular season.
