Kyle Guy: Ends playing career
Guy announced his retirement from playing basketball Wednesday and will return to Virginia to serve as a special assistant, Mike Barber of the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports.
Guy was the most outstanding player for Virginia during the 2019 championship run, but he struggled to make it professionally after being selected by the Knicks in the second round of the draft that year. He made 53 regular-season appearances in the NBA -- 34 with Sacramento and 19 with Miami -- but never averaged more than 10 minutes per game in a single season.

Kyle Guy: Great during Charge debut
Guy logged 29 points (12-30 FG, 2-13 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds, five assists and one block across 43 minutes during Tuesday's 116-100 loss to the Westchester Knicks.
Cleveland's G League team signed Guy following his release from the Miami Heat. He could start regularly if Brandon Goodwin and Cameron Young are unavailable as they were Monday.

Kyle Guy: Gets waived by Miami
The Heat waived Guy on Thursday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports.
After signing a two-way contract with the Heat in January, it seemed the guard would finish out the season with the team. With Victor Oladipo and other backcourt depth now healthy, the team elected to waive the 24-year-old.

Heat's Kyle Guy: Tallies 26 points Wednesday
Guy recorded 26 points (9-15 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds and three assists during Wednesday's loss to Birmingham.
Guy led the Skyforce offensively by a wide margin, as this was the guard's fourth straight game scoring in double figures and he reached the 20-point mark for a second time. The Virginia product is currently posting 15.7 points across 40.5 percent overall shooting through six appearances with Sioux Falls.

Guy tallied 27 points (9-15 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block during Sunday's loss to Iowa.
This was Guy's fourth appearance with Sioux Falls since being assigned to the G League on March 8, and the guard dropped a new season best offensively to lead the Skyforce off the bench. Guy is averaging 13.5 points on 40.9 percent overall shooting in the G League this year.

Guy was assigned to the G League's Sioux Falls Skyforce on Tuesday, Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald reports.
With Kyle Lowry and Victor Oladipo back in the mix, Guy is the odd man out. The 24-year-old has made 11 appearances in G League this season -- all with the Cleveland Charge -- and averaged 21.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 35.1 minutes during those games.

Guy had previously signed back-to-back 10-day deals with Miami and was averaging 8.2 points, 2.3 assists and 1.3 rebounds in 17.2 minutes across six appearances. To make room for Guy on the roster, the Heat waived Marcus Garrett (wrist).

Guy's initial 10-day deal expired over the weekend, but with the Heat still dealing with injuries and COVID-19 absences, the Virginia product will stick around for another week-and-a-half. Guy has logged double-digit minutes in each of the last five games, but he's cooled off after going for 17 points and drilling four threes in his debut against Houston on New Year's Eve.

Guy appeared in five games during his time with Miami and averaged 9.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 51.4 percent from the field. The solid numbers could provide the 24-year-old another look in the NBA, otherwise he's set to return to the Cleveland Charge in the G League.
