After inking a two-year, $18 million deal with Memphis in the offseason, Jerome has yet to make his Grizzlies debut while he works his way back from the high-grade right calf strain he sustained late in the preseason. According to Damichael Cole of The Memphis Commercial Appeal, Iisalo said that Jerome has resumed taking part in 5-on-5 work in practices, and assuming the veteran guard experiences no setbacks while building up over the next week or two, he'll get the green light to play in games. With the Grizzlies announcing Saturday that Ja Morant (elbow) will be out at least three weeks before being re-evaluated, Jerome could be called upon to handle a prominent role in the Memphis backcourt right away upon gaining clearance.

On a positive note, Jerome did make the trip with the Grizzlies to Germany, and Iisalo added that the 28-year-old has resumed on-court work. Jerome has been out all season while recovering from a high-grade right calf strain, but he could be ready to make his Grizzlies debut at some point before the end of January.
The Grizzlies announced Saturday that Jerome is progressing well in his rehab from a high-grade right calf strain and is expected to make his season debut within 6-to-9 weeks.
Following a career-best season with the Cavaliers in 2024-25, Jerome signed a three-year, $27.66 million deal with the Grizzlies in the offseason and was expected to play a prominent role off the bench. The 28-year-old guard has yet to play after injuring his calf late in the preseason, and given the Grizzlies' latest update, Jerome's absence appears likely to extend into the new year. With Ja Morant (calf) likely out until at least early December and Javon Small (toe) and Scotty Pippen (toe) also far away from returns along with Jerome, the Grizzlies are likely to lean on Vince Williams, Cam Spencer and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope as their primary options at point guard for the next several games.
