POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) Rylan Wells scored three rushing touchdowns and threw for two more scores to help Jacksonville hold off Marist for a 44-37 win Saturday in the Pioneer League opener for both teams.

Wells was 10-of-14 passing for 154 yards and added 92 yards rushing on 12 carries against a Marist (2-2) defense that had allowed 170 combined yards in its first three games.

Wells scored on a 7-yard run to open the scoring midway through the first quarter and his 17-yard touchdown pass made it 22-9 with 11 seconds left in the first half.

Mike White threw four second-half touchdowns, including a 50-yarder to Juston Christian that trimmed Marist's deficit to 36-30 with 8:52 left, but capped an eight-play, 70-yard drive with a 2-yard TD run and then hit Prince Gray for the 2-point conversion to make it 44-30 with 5:01 remaining.

White was 22-of-44 passing for 315 yards but threw four interceptions. He became the Red Foxes' career-leader in completions (473) and passing yards (6,505).

Gray had 120 yards on six receptions for Jacksonville (2-1).
