Connecticut coach Paul Pasqualoni was displeased with his offense's performance last week. (US Presswire) |
Connecticut coach Paul Pasqualoni on his team's offensive performance in Saturday's loss to North Carolina State: “Saturday against NC state was probably one of the most frustrating games I’ve been in. We had 15 possessions, an unbelievably high number, and we managed to self-destruct on 14 of the 15."
Cincinnati coach Butch Jones describing his offense: “I think there’s a misnomer when they talk about a spread offense. What is the definition of a spread offense? I haven’t figured that out. We’re a pro-style, no-huddle, up-tempo offense. That’s what we are. When you think of a spread offense, you think of finesse. We’re not going to do anything that’s finesse.”
Temple coach Steve Addazio on his team's valiant comeback against Maryland after trailing 26-3 at halftime: "In that game, to have a chance to get that to 29-27 with seven minutes left to play? C'mon. We gave up 16 points in four minutes before the half. So I think that showed something. But in the same breath, why we started that way, I don't have the answer for that right now."
Louisville coach Charlie Strong on Saturday's matchup with North Carolina: “This weekend, we will find exactly where we are as a football team and steps that we need to continue to make to change his program and get it headed in the right direction. We’re excited about the challenge.”
South Florida coach Skip Holtz, on the challenge of playing on Thursday night after an emotional win, as well as a long trip out west that his team didn't return from until the early morning hours Sunday: “Right now we’re just a tired football team. We went through a lot this weekend, playing on the road in a very difficult environment. I think even if we would’ve played both games at home…it’s hard to bounce back from an emotional win. I think there are a lot of things that motivate your football team in a case like this with it being a conference game [and] being Rutgers. I think there are a lot of things that will motivate our players and we’ll be able to overcome."
Rutgers coach Kyle Flood on RB Jawan Jamison and the Scarlet Knights' rushing attack as a whole heading into the South Florida game: “I think Jawan and the offensive linemen have been able to build a little bit on the [success] at the end of last year. I think this week is going to tell us a lot. I really believe that. I think this is the most challenging of the three weeks so far. This [South Florida] defense is a proven commodity. I think this defense is even better than their numbers would say they are."
Pittsburgh coach Paul Chryst on future conference foe Virginia Tech, the Panthers' opponent Saturday: "You look at it as a measuring stick in a lot of ways. Obviously, we’re going into the ACC next year, and they’re in our division and I think one of the teams that set the standard in the ACC. And yet, if you just look at it just for this year, it’s a measuring stick. This is one of the best teams we'll play this season."
Syracuse coach Doug Marrone on his team's difficult early season schedule: “We’re excited about how challenging our schedule is. When you look at who we’re playing, it’s quite a bit different [from] what a lot of schools are playing. And I’m not just talking about the conference we’re in now. I’m talking about throughout the country.”
