Boston College went on the road and beat NC State 21-14 on Saturday, snapping a 12-game losing streak in ACC play.
If you were to pick a game for Boston College to bounce back, this was probably the week. The Eagles are getting healthier and have actually won three of the last four against the Wolfpack, but that loss came in the dreadful 700-day span between Nov. 29, 2014 (a 28-7 home win against Syracuse) and today.
"It was a hard fought game, and like I said I'm really proud of our team and the way they battled but more importantly I'm just proud of the resolve they had in each other in realizing how we had to win here," Steve Addazio said after the game. "We had to collectively execute together and it takes everyone right now. That's okay with us. We'll continue to grow and develop this football team. We had 18 freshmen and sophomores on the field today and 13 of them on defense. That's cool because we're going to have a lot of people that are going to be here for a while and they learned a valuable football life lesson today."
Former Kentucky quarterback Patrick Towles -- who, you may remember, dedicated his 2016 season to Harambe -- had one of his best games as a Boston College player, throwing for 204 yards. Sophomore tight end Tommy Sweeney had a career day capped by scoring the go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter on some trickeration from Steve Addazio and his staff to seal the win.
After going 0-8 in conference play last season, Boston College made history when its basketball team also went winless against ACC opponents. If Jerome Robinson and the Eagles' basketball team have anything to say about it, both streaks will be snapped before the end of the school year.
After the game, Boston College players were thanking Waka Flocka for providing the music that was the extra boost the Eagles needed for the big road win.
