Florida somehow beats Kentucky, extends streak
The Gators won 30 straight games over the Wildcats entering Saturday night but found themselves down 13 on the road in the fourth quarter after being wholly unable to defend the hosts during the contest. Yet somehow, Florida still won. How, exactly? Kentucky allowed the visitors to score two touchdowns with UF's receivers basically uncovered, the last with 43 seconds remaining when Luke Del Rio, who replaced Feleipe Franks during the game, passed to Freddie Swain for a 5-yard touchdown. UK fought back on its ensuing possession but missed a potential 57-yard game-winning field goal, which fell short. The Gators extended their winning streak over the Wildcats to 31 years, the longest active streak over an annual opponent nationally.

Oklahoma survives a scare from Baylor
Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was confident in a pre-game jawing match with Baylor, but the Sooners needed to run out the clock to survive multiple surges from the Bears 49-41. The close score was a combination of a couple of factors. Oklahoma didn't exactly play its cleanest game with 10 penalties and a turnover, and Baylor has been quietly improving over the past couple of weeks. Abdul Adams (164 yards) and Trey Sermon (148 yards) were big contributors in the Oklahoma run game, but this was a classic Big 12 shootout. The Sooners survive and advance, while Baylor falls to 0-4 with bowl eligibility already in jeopardy.
Kerryon Johnson is a scoring machine
Auburn running back Kerryon Johnson appears to be back to full speed following an injury in the season-opener, and he is showing off in the Show Me State. The Auburn running back has five touchdown runs in Auburn's rout over Missouri through two-plus quarters. For perspective, let's go to Dave Matter of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on how that relates to tonight's opponent.

Auburn won the game 51-14, Johnson (48 yards) finished with five rushing touchdowns and was still Auburn's third-leading rusher behind Kam Martin (74 yards) and Eli Stove (56 yards).
USC unimpressive in win over Cal
On a Saturday filled with ugly wins, USC didn't want to feel left out. The Trojans picked up a 30-20 win against California, but it didn't look all that impressive while doing so. The USC offense was without running back Ronald Jones in the contest, and Sam Darnold had a mediocre day, completing 26-of-38 passes for 223 yards, a couple of touchdowns and an interception. While the Cal defense did everything it could to keep the team in the game, the Bears offense kept putting it in difficult positions. Cal turned the ball over six times on the day, which loomed large in a 10-point game that saw the Bears finish with more total yards than the Trojans.
Clemson pulls away from Boston College late
Maybe Clemson was still celebrating its win over Louisville last week, or it's possible the Tigers were looking ahead to their big game against Virginia Tech next week. Whatever it was, the defending champions sure looked disinterested in playing Boston College on Saturday. At least until the fourth quarter, anyway. The Tigers scored 27 points in the final frame to make what was an ugly game look quite a bit better, beating Boston College 34-7. Kelly Bryant finished with 106 yards rushing and two touchdowns, but struggled in the air, throwing for only 140 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions.
South Carolina survives Louisiana Tech
It wasn't a win that you're going to brag about, but South Carolina at least managed to avoid disaster on Saturday, edging Louisiana Tech 17-16. The Gamecocks trailed the Bulldogs 13-0 after three quarters, and things looked dire after a Louisiana Tech field goal gave the Bulldogs a 16-14 lead with less than a minute to play. However, Jake Bentley and South Carolina were able to drive 65 yards in 47 seconds -- thanks to some missed tackles and an absurd late catch -- to set up a 31-yard field goal with four seconds left to get the win.
Michigan QB John O'Korn shines in win
Michigan's 28-10 win over Purdue didn't come easy, but it did come with Houston transfer John O'Korn at the helm in relief of the injured Wilton Speight. O'Korn passed for 270 yards and a score in the road win and did a nice job moving the chains for the offense. What's more is that Michigan's red zone offense improved with a pair of scores. All in all, those are two good developments for the Wolverines as they await news about Speight's injury.
Texas A&M holds off Arkansas in overtime
Is there a rule that says games between Texas A&M and Arkansas need to be insane? The Aggies beat Arkansas 50-43 in overtime on Saturday, and yes, the game lived up to the final score. Both offenses combined for 958 yards of offense and 12 touchdowns, as they exchanged leads seven times.
What will likely keep Arkansas up tonight was a decision it made late in the fourth quarter. With just over five minutes to play Arkansas scored a touchdown to take a 36-33 lead. It then made the mistake of kicking to Christian Kirk on the ensuing kickoff, and Kirk took it 100 yards to the house to give A&M the lead right back at 40-36. After getting the ball back the Razorbacks again drove down the field, marching 75 yards in four plays to go ahead 43-40. Then the Hogs decided to pooch kick instead of risking another Kirk return, and that decision set Texas A&M up at midfield, allowing the Aggies to get a field goal to tie the game in the final seconds. That field goal forced overtime, and the Aggies would win in the first OT after a touchdown pass to Kirk and an Armani Watts interception.
A bad targeting penalty sums up FSU's day vs. NC State
The Seminoles had all kinds of trouble against the Wolfpack. Ultimately, that's on coach Jimbo Fisher and his staff -- but FSU didn't get any help from the officials with targeting calls like the on one on Jacob Pugh, who was ejected for basically getting his hand in the face of NC State's passer. There was no flag on the play, but the booth buzzed down to the field and Pugh was eventually ejected. In an early slate of bad calls, this is one of the worst.

Freshman quarterback James Blackman started for Florida State in his first collegiate appearance. A three-star member of the Seminoles' 2017 class, he completed 22-of-38 passes for 278 yards and a touchdown on Saturday, though it was not enough in a 27-21 loss to NC State.
Horrible call costs Texas A&M in first half
Texas A&M fell behind Arkansas by two touchdowns and needed a big play to get momentum back. It got one in what should have been an 89-yard Kellen Mond touchdown run. Except that it wasn't because the side judge ruled Mond out at the 10-yard line despite being right on top of the play in which Mond's foot is clearly several inches away from the white. It was reviewed, but since the play was blown dead, it was not overturned. The Aggies failed to reach the end zone and settled for a field goal. The SEC has since admitted that the call was incorrect.

This is why games should be played on campus
Arkansas and Texas A&M are playing in a big SEC West showdown, but they aren't doing so in Fayetteville or College Station. They're playing at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and just look how excited everybody is to be there. Think we'd see that many empty seats on campus? I don't.
