- Ole Miss got some bad news about DB Charles Sawyer. He has a torn quadriceps muscle and will be out at least a month, making him questionable for the Rebels' opening couple of games. Sawyer, who plays CB and S, had four interceptions and 70 tackles in 2011.
- Florida G James Wilson is heading into his sixth year at Florida. He started his career as a five-star recruit filled with potential, but multiple knee injuries held his career back. Younger players are looking to him for leadership.
- Tennessee is looking for depth at tight end after Cameron Clear was dismissed from the program in May. It brought one player over from defense and is using fullback Ben Bartholomew in a hybrid role.
- Auburn WR Trovon Reed is bulking up. He came to Auburn around 165 pounds, but he's up to 195 in his third year on campus. “That was one of the key things with Reed. He just, physically, he wasn’t big enough yet," fellow WR Emory Blake said.
