We're detailing the biggest throws on a weekly basis, giving extra attention to huge throws that quarterbacks make all around the country.
We start by looking at the pass plays with the most Expected Points Added, and then taking into account difficulty and distance of throw, game situation, and opponent.
Here are the five biggest throws from Week 4 in college football, plus what we liked about them from one of CBS Sports/247Sports' top quarterback experts, Clint Brewster.
Evan Simon (Temple): 91-yard TD pass to Dante Wright
What makes this throw special, according to Brewster: "Big time field-side seam throw that mixes power, accuracy, and timing. Led him to green grass."
Temple was looking for its first win of the season, and was trailing Utah State at home late in the third quarter. Backed up inside their own 10-yard line, the Owls were facing third-and-7.
Evan Simon dropped back and threw a dime to Dante Wright, who outran the defense for the 91-yard touchdown. It gave the Owls their first lead of the game, a lead they wouldn't relinquish on the way to the win.
It was part of a monster day for Simon, the Rutgers transfer, who threw five touchdown passes and ran for another. And it's the longest pass play in school history.
That play was +8.7 in EPA, the most valuable throw in college football so far this season.
Shedeur Sanders (Colorado): 43-yard TD pass to LaJohntay Webster
What makes this throw special, according to Brewster: "Shedeur took eight sacks against Baylor and knew he was going to take another hit but still had the grit to get this Hail Mary off and threw it to a great spot for his guy to to make a play."
By now you've seen this play a dozen times, but let's add some numbers to it.
Sanders manipulated Baylor's blitz to give himself a little bit more time, and waited as long as he possibly could to unleash this pass toward the end zone. From the 50-yard line he threw a perfect pass for Webster to haul in as time expired and send this game to overtime (after the extra point).
It capped an eight-play, 72-yard drive that started with 2:16 left in regulation. And that play was +6.8 in EPA, matching the highest-EPA throw of Sanders' Colorado career.
Taylen Green (Arkansas): 58-yard TD pass to Isaiah Sategna
What makes this throw special, according to Brewster: "Taylen Green's extraordinary physical talent is on full display here. No play is dead with his ability to avoid the sack, buy time for himself, and throw a 55 yard dime on the move."
Arkansas visited Auburn last weekend in the SEC opener for both teams. With the game tied late in the third quarter, and points at a premium at that point in the game, Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green was called for intentional grounding, giving the Razorbacks a third-and-19 on their own 42-yard line.
Green, who transferred from Boise State, dropped back and spun away from pressure. Rolling to his left he threw a strike 65 yards downfield that was hauled in by Isaiah Sategna for a go-ahead touchdown. Green didn't have his best day, but that play gave Arkansas the lead for good. And it was +7.1 in EPA.
It helped the Razorbacks improved to 3-1 before embarking on one of the toughest schedules in the country the rest of the season
Cam Ward (Miami): 76-yard TD pass to Samuel Brown
What makes this throw special, according to Brewster: "There's not many quarterbacks in the NFL that can throw the opposite hash hole shot and make it look this easy. This play is a great representation why Cam Ward's NFL draft stock is booming."
Miami was trailing at South Florida late in the first half, and was backed up inside its own 25-yard line. The clock was approaching the two-minute timeout when Cam Ward dropped back and confidently whipped a pass between two defenders.
He hit Samuel Brown in stride, giving him a path to streak down the sidelines for the 76-yard touchdown, and starting a stretch of 36 unanswered points in Miami's eventual 50-15 win.
That play was +6.4 in EPA, Ward's highest-EPA throw of the season so far.
Ward has thrown for 300 yards and 3 touchdowns in all four games this season, and he leads the country with 14 touchdown passes. Brewster says he's currently the top quarterback in college football.
HONORABLE MENTION
Sanders (Colorado): 58-yard TD pass to Omarion Miller
What makes this throw special, according to Brewster: "Shedeur shows his underrated evasiveness and strength in the pocket to shrug off a sack and make a precise throw on the move. Incredible play by Omarion Miller after the catch to stay upright and score."
Sanders certainly doesn't get all the credit on this play, but it had to be mentioned given the expected points added and the comeback it was a part of. Plus we just wanted to see it again.
With Colorado down 14 late in the first half, and facing third down in its own territory, Sanders somehow avoided a sack and escaped the pocket. On the run he threw a perfect strike more than 30 yards downfield to Omarion Miller, who absorbed a huge hit and was inches from being tackled. He somehow stayed up and finished the play off for a 58-yard touchdown, making it a one-score game before halftime.
This play was +6.4 in EPA, the fourth-highest EPA throw of Sanders' career at Colorado (it was third-highest until his heroics in the fourth quarter). And this was his second straight game with 300 yards passing, multiple touchdown passes and no interceptions. But most importantly, Colorado improved to 3-1 this season.
