Roughly 18 months after a collision between the two in a football game left one of them in a wheelchair, Devon Gales attended Marshall Morgan’s wedding this past weekend.
Gales’ mother Tanisha Deans-Gales posted photos of her son and her family attending the wedding on her Facebook page .
“What a true blessing to be in the midst of such wonderful people,” wrote Deans-Gales. “Although tragedy brought us together, love has kept us together and we have been tragically blessed to be a part of this family! Today two best friends made the commitment to love each other for life and I am so glad that they saw fit to have us share this precious moment with them!”
It was in September 2015 in a game between Georgia and Southern that Bulldogs kicker Marshall Morgan and Southern’s Devon Gales collided on the field during a kickoff. The impact between the two fractured Gales’ C6 vertebrae, and he’s been confined to a wheelchair ever since.
A friendship has grown from this tragedy, however, as Morgan (as well as the entire Georgia program) have remained close with Gales and his family since.
