NCAA transfer portal 2025: Live updates, college football transfer tracker, news powered by 247Sports
Live updates and analysis as the transfer portal opened Dec. 9
The NCAA transfer portal cycle for the 2025 college football season officially opened Monday, Dec. 9 and will close on Saturday, Dec. 28. Though some players have announced their intentions to transfer prior to Monday, they could not officially enter the portal until it opened.
Given that thousands of FBS players enter the portal each cycle and NIL has become a differentiating factor in player acquisition, expect to see plenty of movement this offseason in what has become one of the most important periods on the college football calendar.
In addition to the notable transfer players that will be listed below as the process continues over the next month, keep it locked here as CBS Sports and 247Sports cover the transfer portal window from top to bottom with a live tracker, updated rankings and much more. Indiana lands Mendoza
Indiana as landed a commitment from California quarterback Fernando Mendoza, the top uncommitted quarterback in the transfer portal, according to 247Sports. Mendoza emerged as a star in Cal's offense, completing 68.9% of passes for 3,004 yards, 16 touchdowns and six interceptions. He was outstanding in an upset win against Auburn, posting 233 yards and two scores through the air.
At Indiana, Mendoza becomes next in line after the graduation of Kurtis Rourke, who finished top 10 in Heisman voting after leading the Hoosiers to an 11-2 record and appearance in the College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers have never won more than 16 games over a two-year period, which last happened in 1987-88.
Mendoza's younger brother, Alberto, is also a quarterback at Indiana.
