Notre Dame will be without one of its newest players this spring, as head coach Brian Kelly announced during his press conference on Tuesday that running back Amir Carlisle suffered a broken ankle and will miss the rest of the spring.
The injury occurred during a voluntary 7-on-7 drill, and Carlisle is expected to be back on the field and ready in June.
Carlisle played at USC last season as a freshman, rushing for 118 yards on 19 carries. Carlisle announced earlier this year that he'd be transferring from USC to Notre Dame for family reasons. His father, Duane Carlisle, was the strength and conditioning coach with the San Francisco 49ers in the NFL but he left San Francisco to take a job withPurdue .
Carlisle does not have to sit out the 2012 season as he was granted a waiver by the NCAA.
