By any measure, the Oregon Ducks' first season in the Big Ten was an enormous success. The Ducks won the Big Ten Championship Game and were a perfect 13-0 entering the College Football Playoff. However, Oregon was ousted by No. 8 Ohio State in the quarterfinals and now Dan Lanning will go back to the drawing board as he seeks to bring a national title to Eugene.

Oregon will turn its attention back to the Oregon football recruiting trail and a powerful NIL collective led by Nike's Phil Knight will get to work improving the Oregon football roster. Oregon football roster news

Heisman Trophy finalist Dillon Gabriel has exhausted his remaining eligibility, so Oregon will be in the market for a new quarterback in 2025. Sophomore Dante Moore served as Gabriel's backup this season and the former five-star prospect is expected to get first crack to guide the team this spring.

However, Moore will face competition from Austin Novosad and Luke Moga, and Oregon could very well be a factor for quarterbacks in the college football transfer portal as well. Top remaining uncommitted quarterback prospects in the portal include UNLV's Matthew Sluka and Boise State's Malachi Nelson.

Meanwhile, the Ducks got some good news recently when cornerback Jahlil Florence announced that he'd be coming back to Oregon for the 2025 season. Florence missed the entire 2024 season with a knee injury but was a key contributor in the Ducks secondary in 2022 and 2023. Get more Oregon football roster updates at Duck Territory.
