Utah kick returner Reggie Dunn extended his NCAA record in one of our under-the-radar performances. (US Presswire) |
Here are three under-the-radar performances from Week 13:
WR Dominique Williams, Washington State: The biggest benefactor of WR Marquess Wilson quitting the team seems to be Williams, a freshman receiver. Williams caught eight passes for a career-high 143 yards in the Cougars' shocking 31-28 OT Apple Cup win over Washington. In the three games since Wilson quit the team, Williams has tallied 403 receiving yards. In the nine games before that, Williams only totaled 243. You can see him again: Season complete.
KR Reggie Dunn, Utah: Utah-Colorado was the only Pac-12 game in Week 13 that didn't feature a team ranked in the BCS top 25. To put it politely, not many people were watching, which is too bad because they missed Dunn. Utah's senior kick returner extended his NCAA record with his fifth career kick return for a touchdown and fourth this season. Dunn's 100-yard return with 8:12 left in the game proved to be the winning points in Utah's 42-35 victory. You can see him again: Season complete.
S Keelan Johnson, Arizona State: Johnson was slightly overshadowed by teammate Brandon Magee, who won Pac-12 defensive player of the week honors with 17 tackles in the Sun Devils' 41-34 win over Arizona. Johnson didn't quite match Magee in the tackle department, but he did shine in other areas. The senior safety forced a fumble, picked off Wildcats QB Matt Scott, broke up a pass and was third on the team in tackles in the Arizona State win. You can see him again: Bowl game, TBA.
Others considered -- WR Nelson Spruce, Colorado: 10 receptions, 98 yards, 1 TD vs. Utah. WR Garic Wharton, Arizona: 6 receptions, 89 yards, 1 TD vs. Arizona State.
